Excellence Playa Mujeres Brides Post Here!

Hi girls

So I've spent the last day reading all the posts from the very beginning ! Big thanks u have been a lot of help :-)

So I'm planning my sisters wedding (she herself has admitted she has no vision and I would do a better job !) we fly out in just over 20 weeks time !

Cannot agree more with the poor communication from the wedding dept esp with Andrea ! We initially had lleny who was good and within a day or 2 replied (we booked aug last year) but Andrea can take over 2 weeks which is just unacceptable !!

Anyway , one question we initially had is...

Stacey has opted for the gold package and we have several rooms booked with all guests staying 2 weeks (we r flying from the uk)

I've read that several brides had the reduction of the basic wedding package taken off the package they have chosen , making the balance the figure they pay ? We haven't been told anything abt this and if they entitled to this well I want to get it for them !

Can anyone help ? Have U had this ? Have u been told this ?

I have no doubt now I've found u , ull b ally more informative and helpful than they are !!

FYI if u post a comment abt no one getting back to u by the end of the day u usually get ur reply !

Hi - you are an amazing sister to plan her wedding for her!! WOW!

I have had the same problem with no communication with Andrea and it has been a major problem for the duration of our planning. We are getting married May 20 and leave May 15 so it is getting down to the wire. I am just now getting questions answered and it does take about two weeks on average. My travel agent always has to get involved in order to get a reply and her manager had to speak to EPM's manager, etc. - it has been a real hassle and extrememly dissapointing - as well as completely unacceptable for a resort like this.

As for the package - it says in their wedding packet that you can download off their website but it is standard for everyone that if you book a certain number of nights in a certain room category, you get their very basic Excellence of Love package  ($850) for free. So if you do the Gold package, you pay the difference of the two. $2500 - $850. If you booked through a travel agent, often they do a group package deal as well.

Good luck!!

PS. To Andrea's defense, she often does up to eight events a day - often 3 weddings a day. So I don't think she intentionally tries to ignore her emails. She seriously sounds completely overworked. They need to desperately hire more event planners and assistants. They can't expect her to do all that but they also shouldn't expect their customers to just understand and accept such chaos. A resort like this can certainly afford to properly staff their wedding dept so we are definitely speaking to the manager about this when we get there!

Kbailey4 I want my sister to have the best day and I know that I can do that for her !! It's just abit stressful as also organising my own wedding in morocco next May !!!

We keep getting conflicting advice on what paperwork is needed for the legal ceremony ? We have filled the film in with the bride/grooms names etc but do they need birth certificates ?

My travel agent is amazing! She takes full initiative to contact them and sees it as part of her job to ensure I get the answers I need. But even then, it takes awhile - 2-3 weeks sometimes. I initially got fed up and asked her for the manager's contact info as they have very vague email adresses at EPM. But she wanted to handle it herself and I let her since she has built relationships with people at the resort. Plus, she would probably handle it better than I :)

It's pathetic but now any time I need to hear from Andrea, I have to ask my travel agent to bug whoever it is over there and we eventually get an answer. But they will answer your email but forget to attach an info doc, or send the wrong one, or not answer some of yoru questions and you have to go through the whole process again. If my agent wasn't so amazing, I don't know where I would be! Planning a wedding at EPM is not for the faint of heart, the impatient, or the perfectionist - I will definitely say that much. I consider myself middle ground as far as laid back and structured!

Well you are an amazing sister! She is paying for your stay, yes?? JK!

Did they send you the legal ceremony doc? We are having symbolic but I have the legal flyer if you need it.

@@kbailey4 My travel agent warned me about communication issues before I signed the contract. I went ahead with it anyway because it seems like once you get there, it turns out amazing! I'm totally type A so at least I know any future torture I experience, I brought it upon myself =) Plus it seems like this is normal for resorts - that unless you also have an offsite wedding coordinator then communication sucks. Do you mind me asking which travel agency you went with?

If u could that would b fantastic !! My email is gennalouise@hotmail.co.uk :-)

And couldn't agree more, with saying "organising a wedding here isn't for the faint hearted" sadly I am a control freak and perfectionist, I think hats why Stacey was happy to hand over the reins, she knows I wouldn't miss anything plus make sure everything is covered !!! It's just 10 times harder when ur doing ur own wedding at the same time !!

Pay for my stay....haha u must be joking ;-) !!!

But I stayed there abt 3 years ago so know how fabulous it is and how it is worth all that money to stay !!

Roll on 2 weeks of heaven !!!

I got an introductory email stating 90% of the wedding guests have to stay at EPM - anyone have less than 90 and were there a lot of issues around this?

I never heard this. However, we only had one guest stay at another resort and get a day pass for the wedding. Sorry I can't be more helpful.

Hi Ladies,

I have been in contact with Andrea about my May 16th, 2015 wedding. I have a hold on the date until I am able to confirm my reservation. Andrea hasn't sent me any information besides the wedding packages. Is there any additional information I should know?  Thank You!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
