I figured I'd check in while having lunch poolside at EPM! :) We're here for our 1 year anniversary and this place is still just amazing! Had to chime in about the cake.....BIGGER IS BETTER! Trust me, there are no rules here. We had 31 people and 3 tiers, all different flavors. People had seconds, and we brought the rest back to our room which we nibbled on for days after the wedding. Delish! Something to remember....the timing is different in Mexico. In the States, we prolong dinner throughout the entire reception time. Here, you sit down and eat all courses, including the cake, and THEN you go dance. We weren't completely sold on this so started to shake it up at our reception and left the cake sitting out a bit.Once we did the cake cutting, it had melted a bit...my fault. Still delicious but kind of droopy! Follow their lead and you wont have that problem...or not, it will still be good and you'll have a blast!

There is a wedding today we may go spy on, and has been 1 every day this week! 100% capacity here so heads up to have your guests book EARLY!  An English couple just did a legal ceremony yesterday that Nayeli officiated. We ran into them afterwards at the Martini Bar and they were just glowing...said it went super smooth and really have just been beaming everytime we run into them.

I'll post more as we see more!

Hasta la vista!

Sheryl

Katye, you're right around the corner!!!! Getting excited?? :)

HAHAH Sheryl!! You KNOW I am excited, girl!!!!!!!! Just finishing up loose ends at this point!! And there are A LOT of lose ends haha. Going a little cray. Didn't you just get back? How was your time there???

Hi ladies,

Question: We got married at EPM (legal ceremony) and now its time for me to get my name changed.  Do we have to get our Mexico wedding certificate translated to English?  If so, does anyone know where to get this done?

Thanks!

Hey Jackie,

We decided on the Silver Package. We just went through Excellence's Website. We didn't need to put a deposit down. We just booked our room and I think a few days before we leave, they will charge my credit card. This gives us time to debate if we want to add another day or so.

We chose Friday June 6th as our wedding date at the stone gazebo. I think a small wedding will be great....but classy and fun and less stress...I hope, lol

Well, we picked our date...location, the appetizers ...the dinner menu....we put in our request (although too soon) for our cocktail hour and reception. I have a big binder I put together of the resort...and my vision of our wedding...and pics of possible wedding dresses...hairstyles....gifts for the bridal party etc...still working on cake options and am on and off about wedding colors. I am just finishing school to be a travel agent....so once I am done...then it will be ..serious planning....

Keep me posted

Hi Monica,

I did not have any trouble just bringing my marriage certificate to Social Security and DMV, banks, etc. and having my name changed with just that as proof. It is a legal, binding document and requires no translation.

Good luck!

So I actually got married at the Excellence Riviera location - which I think it is a lot less popular for weddings than EPM but I think the experience is very similar. I wrote a pretty detailed overview with pictures and a few tips that I wish I'd known ahead of time: http://www.thisnerdhouse.com/2013/06/destination-wedding.html

But to sum it all up: I had no complaints whatsoever. I used the resort photographer/videographer and was very satisfied with the pictures. I used their hairdresser and was happy with that too. Did my own makeup only because I'm pretty particular about that. Choose to get married on the pier, which was windy but otherwise perfect if you don't have too many guests (less that 12 or so guests). Flowers, cake, decorations, service etc all surpassed expectations. Oh, and I had the gold package, which I highly recommend.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
