We are using Laura Sangster with The Journey Group.www.caribbeanjourney.com

She and her staff have been GREAT to work with!  She has worked with many weddings at EPM and I've seen great feedback on this forum about her.

You can pay with either cash or credit at checkout (I don't believe that travelers checks are allowed). Your wedding coordinator will give you a line item listing of the charges when you meet with them before the wedding.  Just a warning, all prices are calculated in pesos and the resort will not convert it to US Dollars...so be ready to calculate the conversion to be sure that the price that your coordinator quoted is indeed what they are charging you! We did not have an problems with our bill but other brides on this site have had some issues. At least you will have a couple days to look over the bill before it is due.

you will be charged the whole room rate about a week before you arrive, and if you have a wedding package  they charge that to your bill when you check out.  we were under the impression that everything was charged the week before. oh  no surprise when you check out they say oh by the way you owe $$.  we were very upset when we checked out and that nobody had explained  this to us before hand.  plus when we checked out there was no wedding coordinators working. just be careful about that.

other than that, excellence is the place to get married and to vacation. we would go back tomorrow. congrats!

Ya, I was fairly bumbled, but then I was like, "do I want to try to find a whole new wedding location over a bonfire?". No, no I don't, so I'm thinking maybe a Welcome Cocktail Sunset catamaran cruise? By the way, I have been speaking with Llenny and does this sound odd to anyone... If I want to book for 2014, you can't hold your date until Dec 2013. So depending on when you want to get married that only gives you 1-12 months to tell everyone. Like if I want Feb. my guests only get 3 months notice. What the heck!? How are people supposed to have time to save money? I want mid June, my date won't be held until Dec, so what, I can only send out my save the dates 6 months in advance? These people are going to need at LEAST a year to save. Do I send them out a year early anyway saying "Save the Date Summer 2015" or "Save the Date June 2015" Then just cross my fingers and pray June doesnt get all sold out before I can hold my date? I wanted to do brochure save the dates so that people have resort info and can start booking early, maybe do payment installments etc, but they can't do that if I don't even have a solid date until 6 MONTHS OUT. IM FREAKIN OUT MAN!!! How come I've never seen this mentioned on the boards before!?

That definitely sounds weird to me. I spoke with Nayeli in the beginning of May 2012 and confirmed my date for May 4, 2013. Have you tried calling and speaking with anyone on the phone? If you get the same response, I would try asking to speak with Nayeli. I call and speak with her quite often (when I don't feel like waiting on an email response) via Skype and it costs me less than $.10/minute.

Even though I speak with her over the phone. I still email her my questions so she can respond to them in writing and we both have copies. However, calling and getting an immediate answer calms my nerves since sometimes it takes several weeks before they're able to respond back to your emails.

I'm looking ahead to 2015 and a LOT can change in that time so i dont want to bug them TOO much now, but I'm kind of type A when it comes to event planning which is why im trying to get as much info as possible now. So when the time comes closer it will all be done in a snap.

Its so funny because after i stopped freaking out i was able to whip up an adjusted STD/Invite timeline for the 6 months. Its a little cramped, semi vague 11 months out but doable.

I'm really hoping that she mis-typed and meant it in a way that gives us a year. But I did write her back to double check.

She has been GREAT response wise those. I saw some questionable reviews on Llenny from some ladies here but she has gotten back to me in 2 days every single time. I can always expect an answer "the day after tomorrow".

Thanks danak71, knowing you picked a date a year out puts me at ease.

That's awesome she's been so responsive to you! Just keep in mind when wedding season gets underway again, it may not be like that. LOL When I talked to Nayeli last week she told me it's slow there right now.

But I'm sure if you're thinking about 2015 you can get your date at least a year in advance. EPM is such a beautiful property! Good luck with your decision about venue and all your planning!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
