That's very good to hear. Thank you for sharing your info. I initially saw the birth certificate translation fee in the first email attachment I got from N. So I was kind of skeptic. I will be changing my name too, and it seemed like a lot of hassle. Glad to hear that's probably not the case anymore.

A) Joint Posessions (If divorced must split properties 50% each

B) Separate posessions(If divorced each party keeps their own property

PLEASE CHOOSE AN OPTION:

Ha! Love how they throw that in at the end and keep it simple...cracks me up! I filled it out with all of the required information and Nayeli said it was correct.

When you do everything 3 days before the wedding, that will be sure that you have the marriage certificate (in Spanish) before you leave. I believe we can have it translated once we get back.(especially for the name change) As far as a birth certificate, we were told that we no longer need to bring ours. This is where there were changes from a year ago. Only some states in Mexico require your birth certificate, and I am assuming that in Quintana Roo, you do not. I've asked this question a few times but I'm sure I'll ask it again...just want to be on the safe side!

The judge will be there and then Nayeli will be translating. I have seen a lot of fingerprinting in pictures down there...I think that's part of it too...

By the way ladies, I just heard back from N. She's alive! woot.gif

She said it's higher wedding season right now, and will get back to me on my questions later today. Hope you ladies hear from her too! Specially MsBlissMpls.

I got the same apology and "I'll get back to you later today" email, knowing that everyone she's ignored  for 2 weeks is getting the same email does not make me feel that our list of questions will be answered throughly. I think this is the part where almost every bride starts to fall apart and anything could make me break down in a waterfall of tears.

lciz - I'm sorry about your cake  :(  I've been reading everyone's posts to my fiance (he's acually been asking for updates). I'm thinking we will bring containers down and have all the guests take some cake for their fridge. Throwing away cake is unacceptable. I love cake. I can talk about cake without crying :)

Great idea about "taking the cake with you"! Really...who WOULDN'T want to leave with some cake! :)

Does Nayeli know your wedding is in 8 days??? Did she forget?? What the??  How about the rest of us stop asking questions until she talks to you! We can all refer her your way...oy! I'm so sorry you're going through this. I'm a month away and freaking out now!

By the way...saw your post about your sand ceremony in the OOT bag thread and LOVE that idea! I told my fiance about it and now this is his project that he stole from you! We're doing something very similar now...We absolutely love the thought of all of our family and friends contributing to our sand. THANK YOU!

You are sweet. Thanks for the "stop asking questions" comment, that is sweet. But I don't expect everything to stop for our wedding. I know that we have a bride here getting married on the 13th!! :) I think her planner is 95% done though, so that's nice. Also, there is a 5:00 bride here as well on our same day. I think I"m going into a calm wedding coma right now. Nothing phases me in this moment (i'll probably be freaking out later).

For the sand ceremony I got some really little makeup containers on Ebay (a little bigger than the ones below) and put ribbon and the heart rinestones below on them (they look cute and personalized - I'll put a photo up if I think of it), but last week I found some SUPER cute bottles with cork toppers at Michaels. Of course I was looking for these bottles a month ago and they were no where to be found, my fiance said we should just buy the cute bottles wtih cork tops so we might still do that and just forget about the ones I made. You should check out the ones at Michaels, they are so cute and your guests can fill them up with sand from the beach to take home. However, the bottles at Michaels are kind of big and the small makeup containers I have are a perfect size for 16 people to contribute sand. We need to have room for our sand too! Can't forget who's getting married ;)

So my fiance just stopped at my work and gave me some essential oils for relaxing to rub on my neck. He said it's the "good stuff" that is homemade so it "doesn't just smell good, but it really works." Not that I needed another reminder how awesome he is, but how sweet is that!?

Still no anwers from Nayeli, but it's an hour behind there so it's only 3:30 pm. Still time in the workday.

I too had a hard time with this but my fi & I are having a civil ceremony. We wanted our 1st "i do" to be the one & only true time we say, "i do". I chatted with other bdw brides who had a civil ceremony & other than the extra cost, it wasn't bad at all.

Hey ladies are you doing a civil or symbolic ceremony? I really want to do the civil ceremony but not sure if I want to go through all the red tape. What are you ladies doing?

Awww...what a sweet fiance! Especially during this stressful time, it's so sweet that he tries to do what he can to help bring the stress level down. Perfect marriage material :)

Nayeli wrote me an email awhile back and said she gets to her emails in the evening since it's the only downtime she has. We emailed back and forth a few times (it was amazing to get the "real time" responses) at 11pm EST. So no worries if you don't hear back from her during the "normal hour" workday! Hopefully you do hear back today!!

Out of curiosity, are any April brides using Stargazer lilies in their bouquets or centerpieces? I still haven't heard back from N if they're available or not and want to know if I should start looking for a Plan B.,,

Oh ok...We're in the 4pm slot on the 23rd. I wanted the 16th at 4pm initially but it was already taken. Then when I checked there was only one date in April and one date in May that had the late slot available. I thought I was doing good securing the date so early! LOL

We haven't decided about the DJ yet...I'm trying to get a quote for his fee, light up dance floor, etc. I've heard good and bad reviews about DJ Mannia. Some of the bad I heard was that he didn't stick to playlists, didn't want to take song requests and the MC was really cheesy.

Have any recent brides used DJ Mannia and had a good experience?

We are going to do the civil ceremony. Hopefully it will not be to much red tape. I'm already started getting all my paperwork together.
Are you hiring a DJ?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
