Excellence Playa Mujeres Brides Post Here!

Are you ladies doing anything with all the guests the night before the wedding, like groom's dinner or other event? Also, are you planning any excursions for the guests? I was thinking or organizing an excursion or two for the guests to do. Any suggestions?

Gracias!!

We are planning on doing a catamaran cruise for our guest the day before. It will either be in the later afternoon or a sunset cruise for an hour or so. We had originally planned to just meet at the lobby bar for some cocktails & would mention to everyone where we would be eating dinner. That way if they didnt want to join they didnt have too but we thought the cruise would be be so much fun & also a thank you to our guests for coming with us.

What's great is that we were able to change/add what we needed to and also come up with a great seafood option. Who are you working with as your wedding planner? He/she should be able to guide you in the right direction. The food there was fantastic so I can't imagine anything being awful.

Hi everyone,

I'm very new to this forum and had some questions!  I am getting married at EPM on April 20, 2013.  My fiance and I are traveling down to the resort this March.  I have spoken with the wedding coordiantor, Gustavo Vasquez about meeting with him to discuss our wedding and hopefully we can pick some things out, such as food, reception venue, etc.  Have any of you had a large wedding there at the resort?  We are inviting 250 and expect at least 120 to come.  Also, I am trying to find some pictures and/or videos of weddings.  Does anyone know where I can find some?  Thanks in advance!

Thanks ladies!

I would love to sample some of the food when we get there and then pick the items, but I also want to make menu's ahead of time and brink them down with us. We'll probably just pick our favorite options, make the menu's and hope for the best. Sounds like they will all be good choices. Thanks for the confidence on the tasty food! It's so nice to hear positive feedback on choices like these.

83 days to go :)

Oh, here's a link to the company that our TA is using to book our group outing in case you are interested.

Welcome, Monica!

I visited the resort in June. You will love it! I am working with Illeana and when I asked she said the largest wedding they had hosted was about 90 people, so you may set a new record. As far as figuring out your details like food, venue, etc., they will not confirm it until the month before. Maybe since your wedding is so big they will make an exception. I wanted to confirm a place where I can have a DJ at the resort before I booked a DJ and they would not let me do it. So here's hoping that we will get to have our wedding at a DJ friendly venue since we went ahead and booked! For pictures, I suggest reading some of the older posts. They have some links to photographers and some of them are at EPM. Happy planning!

Our wedding is on May 19th! We've been engaged for 2 years and picked this resort when we visited in Sept '10! We started with Yamina, then worked with Ileana, and since this past fall when we visited again, we have Gustavo. I have to admit, I'm starting to get freaked out now that it's right around the corner! With our meal choices, we decided that hot soup outside in Mexico didn't seem "right" as delicious as it was. We talked with the chef and we're going with a tuna sashimi app, then the hearts of palm/mandarin/grapefruit salad, then either the filet with scallops or the fish option of Baked Sea Bass with a chunky lobster and shitake risoto(depending on what the guest wants) ending it all with the chocolate cake...delish! AND we're doing Tres Leches as our wedding cake! :) They were GREAT when we did the tasting! We have the gold package but what I love is that you can mix and match it the way you see fit. We were also able to taste 2 hot and 2 cold appetizers...I highly recommend doing a tasting if you have the chance.  How long are you staying down there? Are you honeymooning there as well or going somewhere else?

Funny you should ask? I just spent a good portion of my day yesterday researching vans/busses/drivers to do an excursion to Tulum for our wedding party who is getting in earlier. We're planning on leaving at 7:30am and heading down to Tulum then on the way back, stopping at Playa Del Carmen for lunch, shopping and drinks! We thought of going to a cenote instead, but we need to be back to the resrt by 6pm to be ready for Thursday night welcome cocktails for all of the guests. Depending on how many people you have, this trip will cost between $37 and $69. Averaging around $50.

WOW! That's going to be quite a group takeover! How fun! The best place to find videos are on Youtube. There are several travel agents who posted things as well as weddings. Not the "best" but it gives you a bit of an idea....

Good Luck!

Wow sounds great! We will be there from 4/29 - 5/8. This will be our wedding & honeymoon!

I wanted to make up a menu before we went so the tasting may not workout too well. Maybe I will just do it anyways in case something is better & forget about the menus...

Do you know if your guest have to let them know ahead of time or do they come around like waiters asking what they want? Im not sure how it works! Does anyone have the menu options? I wasnt sure if it was updated from when I received it. Mine has the options from 2010-2011

Welcome Monica! Holy cow! That's a lot of guests!! How awesome, you are very lucky. Our numbers (25) are actually going down even after people have booked.

Wow, thanks for the fast replies!  I'm so excited about visiting the resort.  I am getting nervous now that I know the largest wedding they've hosted was 90 people.  I am wondering where the location for my reception would be...  I might have to consider cutting down my invites.  I guess I'll figure most of that out when I go in March to meet with them.  Thanks again everyone for all of the advice :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
