Excellence Playa Mujeres Brides Post Here!

Recommended Posts

Hello Ladies,

I have poured over the posts here from over the years and I had to stop (since I am at work and can get "lost" in reading all of the posts on here (and on TA!). I know that there are a lot of issues with the photography and its a touchy subject, but we are debating taking the $500 photographer fee and using it somewhere else in the wedding, with that said:

Has anyone used their in house photographer? Or have you heard anything about their work? I am nervous, I want great pictures, I just can not fathom spending $500 JUST to get them on the property!

Thank you all for any help or advice =)

Hi, LC!

The reason I chose to go ahead with the $500 photographer fee is because it is cheaper to do that than pay the full package price to get all the pictures. Also, I have tried to contact the in house photographer with no response. We decided we would rather cut back and have fabulous photos. We are using Adrian Herrera of Victor Herrara. His photos online look amazing and we are getting a great deal for 8 hours and all the photos.

I am interested in your DJ information. Have you talked to Gustavo or Illeana about a fee for having a DJ? I have not inquired about that at all with them.

Hi guys,

I had asked Ileana about an outside DJ but from what I remember reading somewhere in the info she sent me, outside djs are not allowed and you now how to use the inhouse dj.  I would check with them for sure.

If DJ's are allowed I would also like the contact you have as that is a great price!

Has anyone just rented the soundsystem from EPM and brought an IPOD?

Hi Laura,

Thanks for the info, I am going to look into the photographer you booked. The DJ fee is $150 for an outside DJ (given to me by Gustavo)

www.discomovilcancun.com  There is his website, he quoted me at $600 for 4 hours. You pay $100 deposit over pay pal up front and then the rest a week or so before or in cash day of (check to see, he sends a contract for you to sign). They do all announcements and also take as many requests as you wish.

Ricardo de Pavía I.
Benji Solís R.

Hope this helps!

Hello Laura,

Thank you for your input. I just contacted their studio and their prices are really reasonable compared to the others that I have been looking into. AND I love their photos!... AND I love that they will be there for 8 hours. I never thougth we would be able to have a full 8 hours. I just need to get an email confirmation from EMP- that we can have them as a photographer (just for our records) and then we are ready to book!

Hopefully we can get a confirmation soon. The resort has been REALLY slow in getting back to us in the past couple of weeks. Has anyone else had a hard time hearing back from the resort lately?

His pics online are great and he has won some awards. They have been really easy to work with and are very quick to respond when I have questions. The downside to using the outside photographer is that it is a $500 fee to let them come to the resort. However, we are saving lots of money by bringing him in to get what we want. VIP looks very over priced. Hope this helps! What day in April are you trying to book?

Hello!

I am having a very hard time getting a response back from the resort as well! Also, I am booking Adrian Herrara, let me know what the resort says back to you on allowing them in as photographers... Since I have no idea when they will get back to me either!

Thanks, LC

After much back and forth and tons of reviews we just booked Adrian Herrera of Victor Herrerra Photography. Thanks Laura!

Here's what I found: With Del Sol as the gold standard (in my book), we also loved Adrian Herrera, Moments that Matter and William Sanchez all of these three have amazing work online and I personally contacted all of them and their response time is amazing. I was surprised that I would hear back from each of them within the hour of my questions. So basically you would be doing yourself a favor by hiring any of these photographers!

Moments that Matter is $600 per hour ($4,800 for 8 hours, all the good stuff included - spends lots of time on images after the fact & you can tell he loves his job) Love Lincoln's work. The coloring and emotion are great in these photos. There's not much more to say about it :) and he's a really really cool guy who got back to me right away with all questions. My only concern is that with the resort fee of $500 we would only be able to have him for a few hours, definately not 8 hours.

William Sanchez is $2,800 for 8 hours (all photos retouched, jpg, online gallery, slideshow), someone had written previously that he was $1,800 for 8 hours in 2010! To me that says, he is a great photographer and demand has increased his fee, even tough back in 2009-2010 people were asking about this "new" guy and trying to find samples of his work. We love the coloring and emotion that are captured in his photos. Simply beautiful.

Adrian Herrera $1,800 for 8 hours (all photos retouched, High-Res on DVD, online gallery)  In the end I felt that Adrian is kind of like what William was last year (when his pricing was $1800 instead of $2800). Beautiful photos but kind of hard to find lots of his work. Nice coloring, great at capturing the emotions of the day and on top of it I found this link  brettbutterstein.com/blog/2011/08/07/cancun-private-workshop/ where you can see the whole Herrera clan & William Sanchez at a workshop together learning about photo journalism in wedding photos. In my book continuing education is super cool!

I feel that Adrian Herrera is the "new guy" who has great work (which makes it hard to find samples), however, for a lucky few of us we will get to have him capture our day at and amazing value before his prices increase 55%!

So Excited!

Wow nice work! I am sure this will be helpful to a few brides still looking for a photographer.

Congrats on booking yours - check that off the list!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
