Wow I have less than two months until my wedding date. It is so close, I can almost feel the sand between my toes! I got an email from Yamina today stating that we need to decide on cake, menu, flowers and decor at least one month before the wedding starts. I'm having a few issues and I'll be asking Yamina as well, but I thought I'd check with the wealth of knowledge available on this site.

1. She sent us a bunch of options for cake style but nothing about flavors. Does anyone have cake flavor info to share?

2. I'm having a lot of trouble deciding on flowers and decor based on the photos. For brides that have already been married here or have already made these decisions, did you pick straight from the options she gave or did you send her ideas of your own?

3. For the gold menu options there are two entrees listed per menu. Am I to understand that each guest receives two entrees or is this an either/or sort of deal?

Any tips from brides who have already made these choices would be greatly appreciated!

1. We had two layers of  chocolate and vanilla with strawberries.  The vanilla with strawberries layer was amazing...far better than the chocolate.

2. I chose the table flowers from the options given, however I sent her a picture of my bouquet and she had it made for me.  It was perfect and exactly as I wanted.

3.  Do you mean there are two items  within one entree listed?  For example:  Grilled pork loin with fine herbs crusted sea bass with pasilla sauce?  If so, they come on the same plate.

Feel free to hit me up if you have any other questions.

Omg! I am SO glad  I read this!! My wedding is on May 20th and I haven't recieved ANY communication from Yamina on flowers, cakes and menu's. I just gave her a call and she apologized for not sending me this information before and said she'd send it right over.

Omg, she has no idea how antsy she has me now. Now I'm wondering if she "forgot" to send me anything else.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that this will be a smooth process. Oh lordy.

Thank you SparkleSun!! Very helpful. Did they charge you extra for the custom bouquet? In general, did you run into any unexpected charges when it came to the wedding? I'm assuming you went with the gold package? It seems like most brides do.

I think all the upgraded bouquets are $80 extra, so that is what they charged me.  Yes, I took the gold package and no, I did not get any unexpected charges.  In fact, there were charges I expected that I did not get and there were a couple of times that Yamina told me I did not have to pay for something I expected to pay for.  All-in-all I felt like I got very much for what I was charged.

Hi Everyone!!

It has been said before, but I will say it again ... how lucky are we all to have this forum???

My wedding is at EPM on November 4, 2011. I used to think it was so far away, but we are now closing in on 6 months away, I am sooooo excited!!

I was wondering if anyone has had or is considering the Mariachi band during the cocktail hour? I am thinking of the Silver Package, but will most likely chose the Gold. If I stuck with the Silver I was wondering if adding the band would be an exorbitant amount of money.

Thank you all for the wealth of information!

Congrats and I agree this forum is awesome! So helpful!
I am doing the gold package so that includes an hour for the mariachi band, which I am using for the cocktail hour. I wanted to do the guitarist for the ceremony but Yamina said it was $500. I think that is a crazy amount considering the ceremony is like 15 minutes long.

In my opinion, it seems to make the most financial sense to go for the Gold if you want any upgrades.

Have you seen the movie The Heartbreak Kid with Ben Stiller? He has a Mariachi band following him around the whole time. It's more like the style of music that you would hear in a Mexican restaurant. Caribbean should have more of a reggae, steel drum kind of thing going on. It just depends on what flavor you want to give the wedding, really. More of a Mexican style or Caribbean? drum.gif

In the gold package it says that you can have a Caribbean or Mariachi trio.  I'm not entirely sure what the difference is...

Does anyone have any recommendations?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
