JenFL yes there are group discounts. They require you to block a minimum of 10 rooms to get the group discount and once they are blocked ifwhen there are promotions or specials you & your guests will get the cheaper rate. The also have free nights & other specials if you meet certain requirements ex: 20 rooms booked or something like that. We just blocked 10 rooms since I have no idea how many people will be coming yet.

 

SparkleSun are you ready?!?! Do you need to do anything when you get there? I am so excited for you...I have so many months....I wish it was now!! ps- just checked the weather for there & its showing sunny 80s!!! I have so many questions for you but I will wait to read your review! lol!!!  Are you getting your hair & makeup done at the spa? I a going that route & was just curious.

How long is everyone staying? We are getting married on a Thursday & are going Sunday but not too sure how long to stay. FI was thinking Sunday to Sunday since he gets antsy after 5 days of just laying on a beach but I wonder if thats too short since some of our guests will be there the week as well...

Hi Sharon,

 

I don't think I'll ever be ready!  I have been planning for a year and I almost wish I had more time haha.  It came up so fast!  Yeah, the weather forecast has improved so fingers crossed.  Im leaving in 14 hours!  When I get there I am going to go into town to buy a few things for the OOT bags that I didn't want to drag down because I am already bringing a ton of stuff with me, then I am going to meet with Yamina.  I am getting my hair done at the spa, but my MoH is a make-up artist so she is doing my make up.

 

We are staying for a week, but we are staying longer than any of our guests.  The majority are coming just for the weekend.

ahhh! just learned how to respond! Hi McCarty2B! Im Mrs091011, getting married at Excellence Playa on 09/10/11....congrats on your upcoming nupitals! I didnt know that we could do the catamaran cruise reception!!! whoo, nice! Is that extra?

@SparkleSun - Dont worry everything will turn out great! Its nice you dont have to worry about your makeup too. You will have to let me know if you find anything good down there for your bags. Congrats again!!!

 

@Mrs091011 & McCarty2B - Congrats ladies!!! I have been to EPM twice in September & the weather was perfect both times! I have never heard of doing the catamaran for your reception(I am having mine in the spice terrace) but it sure does sound like it would be fun! I think it wold be fun to rent one for an afternoon to take all my guests out...hmmm I will have to look into this, thanks for the idea!

Does anyone know if you can do a bonfire on the beach?

 

What is everyone doing for music? The resort recommends DJ Mannia. I have read good & bad reviews. I tried to contact them for pricing & they said I have to go through Yamina the WC at the resort. I was just curious what everyone else was doing & if you know if he is good.

I am assuming the photographer Juan Navarro is the same. Still haven't decided on using him or Del Sol...

Hi Mrs091011 and congratulations to you too! 

 

The catamaran cruise is extra; I think we are going to have around 30-35 guests and I don't really want to pay $45 per head (over 20 people) for a sit down meal that they've really already paid for (by staying at the resort).  So I think we're going to do the cruise instead. 

 

How far along into the planning process are you?

 

I'm so excited; we get married six months from today!

      Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010.       Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations.
