Did Yamina make you wait until you picked your reception site until closer to the wedding? She said I can't pick mine yet that I have to wait until 2 months or so before the wedding...
Hi Rebecca,
Welcome back to the planning action! Yamina said that she can't confirm the locations until a month ahead of time, but based on their current schedule, I am planning to have my cocktail hour at the X-Lounge (another choice was the Revive Bar) and the reception in either the Spice Restaurant or on the Spice Terrance. She had sent me photos of a few other options, but the minimalism and modern decor of Spice really suited my taste, more so than The Convention Center event terrace or Convention Center foyer. For Spice, Yamina said that when I arrive I could chose between the inside space or the terrace. I was hoping for Chez Isabelle but it's currently open Sundays...

I've heard that every space is stunning... can't go wrong no matter what!

Thanks!

Just sent the photos, please let me know if you don't get them. I didn't get a schedule from Yamina on which location was open when, I was just told that on Sunday (my wedding day) Spice/Spice Terrace was usually closed, so I could use it for a private event. I gathered that one restaurant is closed each day so that's the space available for you on your wedding date.

Hi Rebecca,
Just emailed you - please let me know if you don't receive it shortly. Can you please let me (and I'm sure others on here know) why you aren't interested in Spice? I've never been to the resort, so any suggestions/advice a seasoned traveler can offer would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Okay - this wedding stuff is making me absolutely CRAZY! So sorry, I didn't read your post correctly... so glad that you never made it there, instead of disliking the place! Phew!

Spice Terrace is really nice. We saw it done up for a wedding when we were last there as it is covered and it is a good backup wedding venue. They really did a beautiful job in the decor of it. I am just hoping the rain holds off on my wedding day as I really want my gazebo wedding!

Rain is good luck... but I'm hoping to avoid it as well!

When you saw that wedding at Spice Terrace did the wedding party add decor of their own? Is anyone planning to bring anything other than stuff for the table?

I am worried about bugs/noise/weather... I want the reception to feel really intimate and personal - Iâ€m not doing separate tables for the dinner, for example, putting us all together at one long one for that reason. Do you think thatâ€s achievable in that spot?

Did you ever have a problem with the bugs? I have horrible reactions to mosquitoes (bites blow up into huge welts... UGLY), and bug spray and my wedding day donâ€t really go together!

I believe the decor was that of the hotel. We will be doing a long table as well and that terrace is huge by the way so no problems there. I don't think noise would be an issue as well due to the way it faces.

I never got bit when we went. If you don't want to wear repellant, which I won't be doing either, pin a dryer sheet on you somewhere as that keeps the buggies away!!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
