Please Help!! I want to change where I'm getting married at?

Recommended Posts

Orginally I'm suppose to get married at RIU Negril, but I'm having mixed feelings about the resort. Now I think I want to get married somewhere else now. Do anyone have any suggestions perferably in Ochos Rios....Not to pricey on the wedding either...I tried tht RIu OCho Rios,ut they have no Saturdays available... sad.gif

Oh yeah it has to be kid friendly...

Curious as to why you would want to exchange one Riu for the other as basically everything would be very similiar- the wedding packages, the rooms, food & beverage.

One other option in Negril that is a little smaller ands boutique would be Grand Pineapple Negril.

In Ocho Rios- the only options that would come in mid range budget wise are Riu Ocho Rios, Sunset then a little more upscale is Beaches Boscabel.

You'll have the widest variety of family friendly AI's in Montego Bay.

I'm so sorry you are having doubts about the Riu Negril!!! Are you worried about the hotel itself, or being in Negril as opposed to Montego Bay or Ocho Rios? Because another option is to look into the Riu Tropical Bay in Negril, which is currently be renovated into a more upscale Riu Palace. (Or so I've read on other sites/forums).

Another site that has a ton of hotel traveler reviews and photos of hotels is tripadvisor.com, which is where I first heard of this forum- bestdestinationwedding.com. A few downfalls of the site is that it is not geared toward destination weddings so there isn't much info relating specifically to weddings. Also, traveler reviews are, of course, based upon personal opinion, so some people really enjoyed the Riu Negril and others did not. It might be helpful to check out some traveler reviews to help relieve some of your doubts. (Just keep in mind, some people who write opinions don't seem like they can ever be pleased so don't put too much emphasis on everything you read.)

Also, we were at the Riu Ocho Rios two years ago w/ my future in-laws. They had previously stayed at the Riu Negril about 4 years ago. Both preferred Negril to Ocho Rios and they thought the two Riu's were comparable to one another. Again, that is a personal opinion and they weren't there for any weddings, but I thought maybe that tid-bit of info may help relieve some doubts.

More importantly, just remember this is a very special day, and no matter which hotel you pick, I'm sure everything will turn out wonderful. You will be in paradise and marrying the man of your dreams!!!! How can it get better than that?!?!?

  • 4 weeks later...

I was also booked at the Riu Negril and changed to Beaches Boscobel. We have children and other children will be attending and felt this resort would cater better to the children. We thought the extra cost would be worth it for the parents to enjoy themselves.

What is causing you to doubt your choice?

I visited ROR recently and watched 2 weddings there and both were stunning (mfraz was one of them if you want to see the ROR set up you can search for her review)

Does it have to be a Saturday, once everyone is there you are on Jamaica time mon!!!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
