Looking for a toy to keep our dog entertained.

We have a 2.5 year old Miniature Dachshund named Ollie. Poor thing just seems SO bored!!! I've been sick for awhile now so most of the time I just lay on the couch. He is starting to annoy me... in a funny, cute sorta way cheesy.gif He just follows me EVERYWHERE! And when his Dad comes home he won't even pay attention to him! He is like my little shadow. Argh!! lol All day he just gives me these puppy dog eyes that are horrible little guilt trips, and then he grunts at me in a very pathetic manner.

Needless to say, Dachshunds are pretty demanding little guys. They are an awesome breed though - Ollie is just the BEST! We had to give away his "brother" a couple months ago, and he is doing SO well at my Grandparents being the only dog. But Ollie just REALLY needs/wants another companion, and it breaks my heart! sad.gif The good news is we do have plans to get him one, but the bad news is that it won't be until AFTER the wedding - so next Summer.

Meanwhile, I need some good toy ideas for him!!! He is a STRONG chewer! So anything with squeekies he just tears them up. Kongs don't interest him in the least... Right now I just gave him a "bone" (it's really an all-natural cow penis tendon rofl.gif but don't tell him that! rofl.gif). That will last him a little while, but I need something that I can give him everyday to help keep him entertained. I don't like to give him these bones too often because he needs to be on a diet (he weighs 14 lbs and the vet says he should be 10-12)... plus, at $4 a pop it's hard to keep him in supply! lol

OK so all you dog lovers/owners out there - what keeps YOUR little guy/girl entertained?!? We need HELP! STAT! pinkie.gif

My little pug Obi is major OCD about his toys. He spends all day rearranging them around various parts of the house. It's really adorable to watch! Just yesterday he was moving his rhino to different rooms and kept going up and down the stairs. It was too cute because he couldn't see around the gigantic rhino in his mouth so he kept knocking into things! When I would call his name he would turn his little head and look at me with that huge rhino in his mouth. Ahhhhh painfully cute :).

My advice is to make sure to rotate his toys and never leave the same ones out for too long. Same thing with chews/bones, don't let him finish it in one sitting. Then he'll be excited to get it back another day! Kong was going to be my other suggestion but sounds like you've tried that. What about a plain tennis ball? For some reason Obi loves them!

LOL - Obi sounds adorable!!! Good advice about switching the toys. I try and do that when I think of it, but you're right - I should do that more often. If I had something else to give him, then I'd take away his "bone" but right now I just can't bare to do that, he's going nuts over it!!

As for the tennis ball - he just chews the fuzz off and then poops it out! DOH!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
