Thanks for the info as well. did anyone get their hair & makeup done at their hotel? I just wanted to see how those turned out. I was not sure how these places compared to hotels here(texas).

Thanks ladies!

Hi Steph,

It all depends on the stylist and your hotel location. If the stylist is freelance (e.g. Doranna), he/she will be traveling to your hotel or the location where you will be getting ready for your big day. However, if your hotel is at a very convenient location (e.g. La Tortuga off 10th Avenue & Calle 14), there are 6 salons within walking distance that will provide wedding day hair styling services and also makeup/manicure/pedicure as well. I will post the names of these salons later this evening.

Hi girls ~ I know a couple of you have asked about Doranna so I wanted to share the pics she provided to my wedding coordinator who met with her in February. My WC was also able to arrange discounted pricing because I have at least 10 girls that would be having hair and makeup done. I donâ€t like to post prices on the forum because they change so often, so if youâ€re interested feel free to PM me! rolleyes.gif

From what I was told Doranna has a girl that does the makeup, and she apparently uses high-end stuff from Italy. Also, important to add that Doranna told my WC she has not had a lot of experience with ethnic hair, but did not say she couldn't do it. Nevertheless, that was a concern for me because I have 3 African-American BMs and FI's mom. So thatâ€s something to think about for brides/BMs with textured hair.

All her work looks beautiful and she is really talented, but yes she is pricey. Just as an FYI, I decided not to use her because I am bringing my own stylist who offered me a great deal that is actually costing me less. But I have no doubt Doranna is probably one of the best in the area and would have went with her otherwise! cheesy.gif

So here are the pics, her work looks great!

We met with Doranna during our scouting trip and she definitely is very passionate about hairdos. My fiance and I both thought she has a pretty cool personality.

Now that she has a partner that loves to do makeup, she only does hair for the bride and the wedding party. Yes, she is pricey but I am confident she does great work based on what I saw.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
