Am I Crazy?

Recommended Posts

To think that I can lose 25-30 lbs in 5 1/2 months?!

I'm currently seeing a nutritionist and have dropped a pound in 2 weeks (not exactly promising). But I'd caught a nasty virus and been inactive for the past 5 days ... plus I'm on my period so I may have even lost more but water weight is screwing me.

Anyways, I don't count calories, it's all bout portion size and frequency of meals. And of course I watch my fat/sugar intake and stay away from deserts and too much alcohol (if any).

As far as working out I'm getting into a habit of HIIT cardio 3 times a week in the morning before work, power yoga for an hour once a week, spinning for an hour once a week and weight training 2-3 times a week with one day off to rest and recoup.

I just get so frustrated sometimes ... I'm not huge, I know that. I currently weight 148 lbs and I'm about 5'3". I just want to be ... tighter and slimmer. I don't want huge muscles I just want to be comfortable!!! I've always wanted it, but the fact that I'm getting married has suddenly kicked me into gear. My future hubby said he would be SO impressed and proud of me if I reached my goal (and not that he's not happy with how I am now, he just knows how much and how badly I want it!).

But, am I mental to think I can actually do it?! I get so aggravated with myself sometimes and so down about it ... *sigh*

This was more of a vent then a question ... but thanks for listening girls.

well did you already buy your dress yet?? thats my first question because im guessing if you want to lose that weight you alreaedy bought a smaller size just so you would be forced to lose the weight..... if not your dress will need so many alterations to make it smaller...

but no i dont think you are crazy to want to lose that much weight in that time...its going to take alot of discipline though to lose it in a healthy way...honestly i am scared of those diet pills making weight drop so quickly ive been told by my doctor its horrible for your health to lose weight so rapidly...but its up to you...with portion control and working out you should be just fine with that goal :) good luck!

Good Luck it is very achievable goal, but do rememeber you are wieght training, and muscle wieghs more then fat, so you might have lost fat and gained muscle as well, which might explain why you have only seen one pound come off.

Are you watching your BMI and Fat index (if forget what it is called but if you are part of a gym they can measure it - there is other ways too but not sure what they are)

Good luck

You can TOTALLY do it! You just have to have a little faith at first when you aren't seeing results that eventually they'll come so you stick to it. For me, I have to work out hard and diet for a good four weeks with no results and then all of a sudden I start to see the changes (i think in those first few weeks, I'm still losing, but probably from my boobs or my ears or some other unhelpful place!)

And get a personal cheerleader!!! Recruit your FI or a friend or someone, someone to cheer you on, ya know?

Oh - and don't totally focus on the numbers - use how you feel and how your clothes fit as a gauge for your success :) Good luck - you can do it!!!

I second neen! You can definitely do it! And I agree, go by your clothes, not the scale. I inevitably "gain" weight when I work out because I build muscle, but it's so nice to get breathing room in my clothes! But you have plenty of time - 5 pounds a month might take a lot of focus, but what better motivation than your wedding!

I can definitely relate with you though - my Mr loves me as-is (obviously!), but he's supportive of whatever it I need to feel my best. I suspect there's some ulterior motive there- he gets some perks when I feel hot! But I also know it can be discouraging...as evidenced by the many workout plans that have fallen by the wayside. Have you looked at sites like Sparkpeople? They have a group for brides, and I think it can be motivating to read the forums and know other people are fighting it just like me. But I think it's definitely do-able and un-crazy! Good luck!

It's do-able, but have you ever been that light before? Because you have to factor in body type.

I'm 5'3" and currently hovering around 144. At my absolute thinnest and fittest in adulthood I weighed 128 and I looked on the verge of being too thin.

My goal this past year was to get down to 135, which I think is reasonable for me. I was 151 last year and dropped down to 145 and just stopped there frown.gif

I'm now running every other day and doing weights. The weight drops off fast when you're working out, it just sometimes takes a few months. Then it all comes off (in my past experience).

So factor in your age and your past weights and your body type before having a goal that may be unachievable.

But in terms of healthy losing, as long as you are losing 1 lb or 2 lbs every week, you should be in good shape :)

Good luck!thewave.gif

You girls really are the best ... honestly.

When I think about it as 1-2 (preferably 2) pounds a week ... and that I have 20 =odd weeks to do it in ... it seems totally and completely doable.

To answer a few questions:

I DO have my wedding dress ... and it fits ... kind of. It's a bit tight in the rib/abdominal area and would need to be taken out slightly if I was to get married in a week or so. So, I have motivation on that end.

At my lowest weight, when I was running and eating well etc. I hit about 135 lbs but I know I could have gone lower if I'd not been an idiot and stopped seeing the nutritionist. *sigh*

I have a very supportive fiance and he's also started lifting weights to get himself in shape for the big day on the beach and eating better to make it easier for me so there's less junk in the house etc.

He took my measurements last weekend (bust, waist, hips) and snapped a few pics of me in a bikini and we'll do that on the same date every month till the big day. :) I know I could gain muscle weight which will stop the scales even though my body is changing, which is why I asked him to take the measurements.

Hopefully this plague-like flu will leave me this week and I can get back into action as I've been inactive since last Tuesday sad.gif No good!!!

But, again .... thank you girls!!! You're the best, and besides my FI it's nice to to know I have you all behind me too. It will be done!!!!!!!!!

Two very very awesome things!!! Actually three!
He's supportive
He's working out too
Less junk in house!

I have the first thing. Not the two other ones though frown.gif
Though FI did start participating in football games every Monday. He thinks the gym is boring. I love having the routine and knowing that I'm getting exercise in every 2nd day.

Good luck! There's a fun motivating thread on here too to check in on how you're doing every day. cheer2.gif

Thanks Kevsgirl - I checked out the thread ... very cool!!

Just because I know we're all visual ... here's where I'm at now:

(in the dress ... I love it SOOOO much)

I loathe my arms so that's gotta change ... and the dress is very tight in the abdominal region and loose on the boobs (great :-p) Hehehe

And a full frontal (hee hee) because we all know that angled shots bring out the skinny no matter what ... ;-) Hehehe

Really this was just an excuse to show off my dress again ... LOL but really ... I want to feel GOOD in my dress. I already love it, but I want to feel comfortable!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
