Transportation from ROR to honeymoon?

Veronic

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I will be getting married at ROR in March 2009 and staying at the RIU Palace Tropical Bay in Negril a 2nd week for our homeymoon. Our transportation from one resort to the other is not included with our package & our travel agent doesn't seem able to arrange this for us !?

Has anyone travelled from Ocho Rios to Negril. Any suggestions for arranging transportation, good drivers to recommend and/or idea of how much this would cost?

Thanks so much :)

Hey..Im getting married at ROR and then honeymooning at Couples Negril....

I was worried about this, but researched my options...

1) You can take a private cab/taxis from ROR to the RIU in Negril...I got a quote from Lees Travel- who apparently from many brides comes very recommended...She quoted me around $100. The distance between to two locations is about 3 hours or so...but you and your husband would be able to sit comfortably in an air conditioned cab alone and not have to worry about stopping if you didnt want to..

If you would like to contact Lees Travel, the number is somewhere within this forum you just have to search for it...She was very very friendly and responded back quickly to my email request not only with an email herself but also a phone call..

2) The other option is to head back to the airport and then catch the free shuttle from the airport to the RIU Negril...This is what we are going because its free, and also we are able to go back to the airport with our guests and say goodbye to them there....

My travel agent said that she would coordinate the times to as when the guests will have to leave and when there is a shuttle going to the other resort for us so that it sort of matches up....

Hope this helps!

My fiance and I are honeymooning at Couples Swept Away and the people at Couples said we could get in touch with them from ROR to coordinate our ride there. I think we too will go back to the airport to see our guests off and take the free shuttle from there....but I think she said it might be possible for them to pick us up directly at ROR.....which wouldn't make much sense for them but oh well! :)

We are leaving Dec 6 and getting on married on the 11th

Married at ROR to Honeymoon at R Negril exact same as you!

We booked the transfer through Lees tours, her charge is 160.00 - she was the cheapest we found. We also tried Jamaica Tours | Jamaica-tour.com he was 175.00.

The standard taxi charge we were told was 180.00.

Sunqest who we are going with was $220.00.

Hope that helps...I am not too sure where the 100.00 quote came from to be honest with you from Lees Tours, but they are great in the sense that they will give you a tour on the way as well.

I dont know, but she did quote me $100...but we arent going with them anyways...I would definately bring my email where she quoted me the $100 if I did end up going with Lees...

Ohh, I guess the free shuttle is only with your package if you got one, in which our is Sunquest and the shuttle is included both to the Riu and back to the airport...

Sunquest, like most tour operators include transfers in their packages but there is a charge. The only time transfers are free is when the resort provides them as an extra amenity such as Sandals and Couples resorts.

Hi Maureen,

If Couples provides transfers, do you think they would pick us up at ROR to get us down to Negril? My fiance & I are getting married at ROR and then honeymooning at Couples Swept Away.

Thanks for the info wink.gif Does it not make sense to go back to the airport then? How much time would that add on to our travel timehuh.gif

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
