We DID postpone our wedding...

Hey girls!

For those of you who don't know FI & I decided to postpone our wedding. Initially it was really hard & I didn't want to even think about setting a new date. I even took a mini vacation to Chicago -went to the Oprah show w/friends- to "get away" from it all. To make a long story short, I was home within 24 hours of being gone & ready to set a new wedding date!smile159.gif

Our new wedding date is April 2010. We are still getting married in Puerto Rico @ El Conquistador Resort.

**My question: Does anyone know how far in advance airlines -specifically Continental- will let us book our flights?

I remember reading through a few threads & noticed that a couple of members worked in reservation departments so just thought I would ask.

Thanks in advance!

ps I have to admit I breathe better seeing my new ticker! Whew!

Samantha...I'm happy you're breathing better. Whew! I'm sure you'll now have time to have the wedding of your dreams.

Typically, most airlines allow booking 330 days out from the travel dates. If you try to book exactly those 330 days you will only be able to book the departure trip. You will then have to wait until it is 330 days out from your return date.

My suggestion is to wait until you can book both ends of your trip at one time.

Happy planning!

Thanks for the advice ladies! I really want to stay on top of our airline tickets because we got such a great deal the first time around. Our airfare on Continental was $347.00 roundtrip (including tax) traveling from San Antonio, Texas to San Juan, Puerto Rico! It was sooo hard to cancel our airfare tickets!

Yet again, I just have to look at my new ticker & know we have the time. And after everything FI & I have been through this year, that's a good thing! :)

That's what our engagement will turn out to be, 2 years. And your right, when we first got engaged there was noooo way I would agree to 2010. I was set on us getting married 2009 and then life happened! fryingpan.gif

Honestly since we postponed our wedding I feel a million times better. DOn't get me wrong, we are not slacking on a thing. We know now how quickly the next 16 months are going to fly by!

did you check with CO to see of they will let you apply the money already paid to new tickets in the future? typically you can use it to pay towards new tickets (with a change fee of course) as long as you apply the value to a new ticket purchased before the end of the year the original value was paid. it never hurts to call and explain the situation. also if you get a NO, try again and get someone else on a different day/time, and if all else fails, go in person to a ticket counter and see if someone will help you. (i shouldnt have told you this, we hate people that do this, but come on! someone is always willing to help, kwim? its usually me! wink.gif )

petunia is correct, about 330 days out (we usually say 11 months) you can start booking fares. also like she said, watch the return day!

I am glad you are feeling better about the date change. We have been considering changing our date as well. we have our date set for dec 1 2010 but might have to wait till 2011. My current job is very unsecure and my income might be cut in half. I am keeping my fingers crossed I will know better in the New Year.

As far as flights some airlines post about a year in advance others only about 6-9 months best bet is to either call or just keep watching the flight schedules.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
