Question about cake in Mexico

Recommended Posts

I was just looking for some insight on the cakes in Mexico. Our WC at the resort sent us a questionnaire about what we want for our wedding. For the portion about the cake, we have the option of 2 types of cakes, cheesecake and a three milk cake, which she said is the typical cake in served at weddings in Mexico. Is everyone having this type of cake and has anyone tried it? I am not a fan of cheesecake and can't imagine having it as our wedding cake.

Thanks a bunch!!

The Tres leches cake is very good but keep in mind that it has to be refrigerated up to serving. Basically it is a white sponge cake soaked with three tipes of milk- regular, carnation, and a condensed sweetened milk. Usually the frosting is real whipped cream. Ive seen it decorated with ton's of fresh flowers.

I haven't read all of the responses but that appears to be a very limited selection. I personally am not a fan of the Tres Leche (sp) cake, when I tried it the consistency was soggy. I would assume it's always like that!?

The Tres Leche cake can be found easily in the States so I would recommend trying it first. I do like cheesecake so taht would be my vote or forgo teh cake all together.

Good Luck!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
