ROR Wedding Vows script from Chandlyn, got it today

Recommended Posts

Hi ladies

If anyone is wondering about the vows for the ROR I have attached them here. I receieved them today from my TA. I believe they are the same ones from last year. The only thing she requested the vows for the civil ceremony and they still say "holy" so I guess they use the same vows for both civil and religious ceremonies.

Yeah, we were trying to decide whether or not to prepare our own but as soon as I read these from Chandlyn we are 100% doing our own. I'm not crazy about these vows at all.

FYI, if anyone is thinking of writing/preparing their own vows, there is a GREAT vow repository here on another wedding forum. FH and I completely "stole" the ideas of these brides for our vows.

Kvetch: Vows => Giant Vow Repository Here!

If you are at all sentimental I would get some tissues ready- some of the vows there made me cry like a baby! The best ones are a few pages in.

There is also a reading repository, which is where we got our unusual readings.

Kvetch: Vows => Can we make a giant ceremony readings repository?

Hope these are as helpful to some of you as they were to me.

We were married by Minister Sheldon. We brought our own vows and he read them perfectly and beautifully!! We were very impressed with him (he does the religious ceremonies) - we added quite a few things and he didn't skip a beat. Not a single error in the ceremony. He rocks!

Here are our vows; if it helps rolleyes.gif

(Name), I love you. You are my best friend. Today I give myself to you in marriage. I promise to encourage and inspire you, to laugh with you, and to comfort you in times of sorrow and struggle. I promise to love you in good times and in bad, when life seems easy and when it seems hard, when our love is simple, and when it is an effort. I promise to cherish you, and to always hold you in highest regard. These things I give to you today, and all the days of our life.

LOL Those are the vows I had originally picked!! After I looked on indiebride I changed them a bit to suit us a bit more but I love the line "to always hold you in the highest regard," and "when life seems easy.....an effort" lines. Beautiful! Did you cry?? I'm afraid I'm going to cry.

Also, just a word of caution to brides who are not preparing their own vows/ceremony----My husband and I actually used a stopwatch to time three different weddings before ours. They were FOUR minutes. It seemed very anti-climactic to us to prepare for your wedding for months and have all of your guests travel that far for a four minute ceremony. I would definitely recommend adding a sand ceremony or something to make it longer. Ours was 15-20 minutes. We wrote it start to finish and included a hand ceremony and a sand ceremony. We had Erril Grant perform our ceremony. We had asked for a civil ceremony. He did OK, but he stumbled a few times and goofed up our order which made me mad since all he had to do was read it. It was the only time we saw this judge/minister at the resort. All other ceremonies were performed by a different man---I think Mr. Sheldon. We had the option of meeting with the judge first, but it would have cost another $50.

Yea, we tweaked them a bit too! :)
Surprisingly, I didn't cry! I was so in the moment. And I'm totally a cryer - TOTALLY! Cry at every wedding I go to. rolleyes.gif

I am bringing my own as well. I am not the creative type so I have found something online that I really liked.

I was going to go with just what they had...but four minuteshuh.gif? Sorry to sidetrack the thread...not my intentions...

What does the sand ceremony involved? Do they do the wording and guide you or is this something you do yourself? What is involved? Maybe someone could pm me?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
