Just another thought on Crocs- once you have a "nasty" spill on those that soaks through to your socks you might think twice! A word of warning if you work on a floor where you're frequently coming in contact with body fluids :) Let's just say been there, done that, won't do it again!

I use to wear croc style shoes but they were so light on my feet that sometimes I wouldn't pick my feet up high enough and I would stumble! Comfy but i would look like a fool sometimes! I use to wear nikes but b/c of the bodily fluids we come into contact with they had to be leather uppers. The last 2 yrs though I have switched to Danskos and they are pretty comfy. They come in tons of different styles and colors. I have the maryjane ones. But remember when you first start wearing them ease into them , they take a while to break in. Bring a different pair of shoes to work and switch em!

thanks everyone!

i don't think i'll end up getting her crocs.. although they may be super comfy, and i kind of want some for myself, it's just not really the kind of gift i want to give.. i'm thinking something a little more shoe-like and and with a little more style, kwim?

i hadn't thought about merrell or clarks, so i'll definitely check those out! anyone have a style they love?

sarah, do you buy your danskos online or in a store?

I always get my Danskos on ebay. I went to a store to try them on the first time, then once I knew what size I wore I've always bought online. If ebay doesn't have the style you're looking for check Zappos.com, they usually have decent prices too.

I got my latest pair on ebay for $89.99, they're $120+ in the stores.

Some nursing schools have specific requirements for shoes too. At my school they had to be closed toe, closed heel, completely white, and rubber outsole. So make sure you know if her school has any requirements too. I bought a pair of "Nurse Mates" my first year, and never wore them after my first clinical day lol They're collecting dust in my closet

I have tried on Danskos a few times and I can't get used to them. They are fitted so that the back of the heel moves up and down with your foot as you walk. So they always felt like they were about to fall off. Secondly the arch seems hard to me.

I have Klogs and they fit like a regular shoe and they have cushioning in the sole, so my arches never hurt. Klogs-ProFoodService

Just another option if the Danskos don't work for her.

LOL at the Nurse Mates!!!

Hi there, I am an ICU RN, work 12 hour nights...Danskos made my feet cry (with pain) by end of shift - but those who love them, love them. I love Keen - they make my feet cry with JOY :-) And they are cute. Merrells are good, too. Crocs are comfy, but no support (IMHO) and some places won't let you wear them because of the holes (goo gets in them, ugh).

Good luck to you and your sis! J

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
