Hi! We are having the HARDEST time deciding between Puerto Vallarta and the Riviera Maya for our fall wedding! I have searched a lot on weather (it seems seems to be good for both in early Nov (our time frame) but haven't been able to find many "firsthand" comparisons of the two. Can anyone with experience with both comment on how they compare at that time of year (late Oct/early Nov) in terms of temperature, HUMIDITY and price (not as worried about rains or hurricanes). We are trying to balance the best weather with the best prices! Thanks in advance!

(And this is the best wedding forum website out there - and I have looked at A LOT - thanks for everyone who makes it such a valuable resource!)

In all honesty we chose PV over RM because we just couldn't find a resort/location that offered everything we were looking for. If you are planning for a fall wedding I would take into consideration the hurricanes in the Atlantic. I think hurricane season "officially" runs to the end of November? In all reality I think whether it is PV or RM you both just have to really like the place and what it offers for your day.

Have you ever traveled to either place?

Hum, I don't know as I have never been to Puerto Vallarta, but I would be interested in going for a future vacation so I look forward to some of the answers.

I know the main thing I would want to know is how do the beaches compare? The beaches in the Mayan Riviera are not the best (very rocky).

I haven't been to RM, but from what I've heard and seen, the ocean is more clear. PV have some rocky beaches and some sandy beaches. I think there's lots to do in both areas, but if you have surfers in your group, I would go to PV. Also consider flight costs to each location from your home base.

I loved the ruins, cenotes (sinkholes) and snorkeling in RM. I also liked the rocky beaches. I'm probably in the minority here, but i thought they were really beautiful. i needed shoes on some parts, but i love the look of the rocks against the water. we took some cool pictures sitting on them.

I haven't been to PV, but it sounds really cool. I believe you are in a town which would be fun. las caletas in PV sounds awesome.

really you can't go wrong with either. have you compared flights? We picked RM because it was a shorter, cheaper flight.

Thanks for the input so far! Airfare seems to be about the same, so it comes done to the resort options and what you get for your money. Has anyone compare resort wedding prices between the two locations? I have been to both, but neither one at that time of year. My FI is really concerned about the humidity factor :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
