Colors for Wedding Guests?!

Recommended Posts

for our at home wedding we asked everyone to wear "colors of the surf and sand" like aqua, turquiose, tan, dark brown, and to go "beach formal" like flip flops with tommy bahama shirts and slacks, etc. not everone did the color scheme other than immediate family, but everyone except my uncle (out of 120+) did go with the beach formal theme, and it really looks cool in the group shots :)

then for our cabo wedding we had 20 people and it was all immediate family who pretty much all wore what they had for the wedding at home, so those pics turned out cool too-everyone in aqua/turquoise/brown. it was really fun!

Ok so now Im kinda questioning my original thought (shocking). I want to have all my guest wear white. My fI is wearing a tan suit and so are his groomsmen. I need to order my bridesmaids dresses asap. I want my FI and the groomsmen to have pink/purple ties, but wouldnt then I have to have the bridesmaides wear a dress to complement? And if they are the only ones wearing non-white will that look strange. Any advice... please? Going a bit crazy on this onesad.gif

We decided that we would not since the financial obligation was sizable already. But if those close to you are mentioning buying something ask that they consider something from their repoirtoire that is in your color scheme! Color is always great for photos anyway----makes your pics even more vibrant

I also considered asking my guests to wear neutral colors; but in the end figured I can't ask any more of them since they are already paying so much $$ just to come to our wedding. I would just feel bad asking any more of them.

That being said, if you do something like shades of blue ... then most people have something blue that they can wear and I am sure it would look amazing on the beach.

lol - that is hilarious. when i was bartending we'd be stressing out for DAYS to find a cute little outfit to wear behind the bar during our annual white party at the club. bunny_4.gif

i agree with everyone though - all white beach weddings are amazing. i'm going to have to have my FI read this thread to talk him into it...smile29.gif

I didn't ask for a specific color. All I asked was for them to wear spring/summer colors and I still got crap for that. I just didn't want anyone wearing black and that was the first thing that my aunt said "well I planned on wearing black" not to mention my cousin is wearing a long flowy WHITE gown.

So to make a long story short. I wouldn't worry about what people are wearing. You are probably going to deal with a bigger headache then you planned. I have learned that you can't control everything. All that matters is that the man of your dreams is waiting for you.

I am having maybe 20 people at the wedding and in my wedding website I have requested girls to wear pastel colored sundresses and men to wear khaki linen pants and pastel color linen shirt. Pretty much I want everyone in some of the photos and know that will look the best. I am not having a wedding party so pretty much everyone is my wedding party. We will see how this turns out.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
