Hi guys

I'm getting married 8 April 009 (Hi Sarah!)

I also booked through the hotel for the wedding as Thomsons didn't have any dates I wanted (over Easter) but the hotel did. And I was restricted to the dates we could be out there as I work in a school.

I am planning on taking my dress on board as hand luggage.

Hi ladies!

Here is Chandlyn email

weddings.ori@riu.com

I would definately get in touch with her as soon as possible if yours wanting any sort of private area. Reserve it! You can always cancel anything you don't want. There can be a number of weddings in the same day so the popular reception areas are bound to be reserved quickly.

Chandlyn took about 5 days to get back to me.

Very excited for you Gemma! Looking forward to seeing the pics!

Hi Blurt,

Myself & my FH originally booked the Riu Tropical bay in Negril with 1st choice, however the service with the Weddings team was just appauling, for 1 they couldn't confirm our wedding date as the hotel was undergoing renovation & even the TA couldn't confirm the hotel would be open in time, and the hassle I had with our documents was another issue. We then thought sod it & rebooked the holiday with Thomson (who were still independent, they're in partnership with 1st choice now) however, we decided to go to the ROR instead (didn't want to go to RTB if it was still a holiday from hell resort) and I decided to contact Riu directly to book the wedding package myself, the ease of doing this was a major weight off my shoulders, I had my wedding date confirmed within a week, they then emailed me Chandlyn's contact details, and to be sure, I sent our wedding documents via UPS back in May, 9 months early!!

Being honest, I would advise anyone to go directly through the hotel to book a wedding package, and we even saved money on the cost of the package, as all travel operators add there own commission on top!!

Feel free to email me if you need any more info, be happy to help another bride to be

Sarah xx

Hi Claire, plans coming along ok, starting a new diet monday so am hoping to shift 2-3 stone this time, its the Cambridge diet, dunno if you have heard of it.

Anyway, the docs needed are; Full birth certs, showing both parents names, and photocopies of full passports, think you have to have at least 6 months left from date of return, also you have to get them certified by a solicitor, I brought mine & his in, took less than 10 mins & it cost something like £10. By the way, if you have changed your name, you have to produce a change of name deed (Statutory declaration) and again, this has to be certified by a solicitor. That's all you need, once you have all those done, courier them by UPS or someone to the hotel, for Chandlyn's attention. Thats it then just bring the original docs when you go. Talk soon xx

Hi everyone, I emailed Chandlyn on Saturday asking if we could get married at 3pm. She mailed back the same day and told us that time is booked and the only time left is 11am.

So if you want a late time get in touch now.

I am a bit disappointed that it's early but I think it might be better, that way I won't be able to panic for most of the day and we will be able to relax and enjoy the rest of the day. x

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
