I wouldn't be worried so much about what the hotel says, I would be more worried about the potential number of complaints you might get to the manager from other guests! We had our wedding there in December and it was by far the most wonderful all inclusive hotel we or any of our guests have ever been too. The reason I say to worry more about guest complaints, which will get the hotel's attention, (not to mention you have to go through security and reception to get into the hotel) is because one of the most common things I heard at the resort was people commenting on how great it was to not have kids around. I hope for your sake that guests are understanding about it being a wedding and that the children aren't actually staying at the hotel. Have you checked with Valeria what their policy is? She was wonderful and organised everything perfectly for us.

We got married at SMB on December 9, 2011 and I have to say it was amazing!! All of our guests raved on about how wonderful the week was and we agreed!

We used the resort DJ and he was great. He played all the songs we requested and also took requests throughout the night. The sound system was excellent quality as well.

If you have any questions feel free to message me... I am trying to work on a review now :)

I'm so grateful for everyone's input. The uncertainty of planning a destination wedding can be a bit scary.

I'm just now starting to think about my wedding (End of August 2012) and have booked everything already. From what I've heard everyone seems to be working with Cecilia... The one who I have been in contact with however has been Valeria... Is anyone else working with her?

Hi! Thank you for your response. Cecilia told me that nobody under the age of 18 was permitted at the resort, even for a wedding. I am worried that these specific wedding guests will not respect our wishes, or the rules of the hotel. Just to be clear, I don't want the children to show up. I am worried that some particular guests will just do it anyway (an make me a very sad bride for being so disrespectful). EEeek! I'm a wreck about it. We keep telling them that it is not okay, but they act like they do not care. I will probably wait until next month and just bring it up again. I would imagine that the hotel would be more worried about upsetting the guests that they have who are actually staying at the resort rather than some who are only there for the day.Not to mention that it is a very nice resort and a people are paying big bucks to stay there. It's a very awkward situation and a long story. I'm having trouble with how to handle it. The simplest and clearest thing that I can think of is to just tell our particular guests straight out that they can't bring the children. But, we have done that so many times and it's just so odd that they will act the way they are about it. Ohhhh, this is the weirdest thing that could happen I think. Who would insist on bringing their children to a resort that is only for adults?!

Thank you for your response!

@emsdds @CKRN: I wish we could have a site visit as well, but that just doesn't fit into our budget.  We would love to hear your impression of the resort and if it matches up to the reviews everyone has been giving.  Recent visits are the most accurate.  I haven't heard any reviews on the beach itself.  Is the beach as pristine as they describe?  Is it rocky walking into the water?  Is the water calm or are there alot of waves?

BeachBride, I can't believe how rude some of your guests are being. I'm surprised you haven't snapped at them! Lol, well I do think they will be in for a rude awakening if they show up with the kids because I think they will just tell them flat out no. I don't think they will let them in honestly.

Is anyone else having trouble getting Juan to email you back? He emailed me right away initially, but after I asked him about the printing rights on package #1 he has not responded and I sent him another just to make sure he got it. I went ahead and booked #2 with Cecilia because I was worried but I would love a clear answer from him so I could book #1 if I could print them. Agghh, well at least I have this forum to help answer my questions! It really is awesome.

Also, does anyone know if the gazebo comes with the white cloth on it? I just realized I didn't know if that came standard? I really don't want a plain gazebo, lol!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
