Hi everyone,

I am in the process of booking at SMB.  I wanted to get some feedback from everyone regarding the wedding package they booked.  I am thinking of booking one of the 2 packages other than the free one, but there are some things that are included that we do not need.  I was wondering if any of you have chosen one of the upgraded packages and negotiated for other items you wanted instead of what was included in the package?  For example, one of my guests is going to do my hair and makeup, so I will not need those services.  But I am interested in renting a sound system and having a bonfire for a welcome dinner.  Any information and advice is appreciated.  Thanks in advance!

hi angel,

i think we may have spoken before? congrats on your day.  we must have seen each other cos our wedding was on 18 may and honestly was pretty identical to yours!!

it was just the 2 of us.  valeria was also my planner.  now she is very sweet but my experience is the same as you.  she was 40 mins late for our first meeting. my hubbie was getting mad!! she did not really apologise either.  we married on the beach and i did not book any sound system etc and i dont think this made any difference.  i loved loved loved my flowers.  they were delivered to the spa when i was getting my hair done.  i liked my hair but was not made to feel special in the spa.  i was expecting a glass of bubbles too!!  and octavio was my photog! AMAZING! he came early for me too and loved all his work. i would love to see your pics and compare?  i will pm you the pass to his website if you would like to swop pics.  valeria was also late to the room for me as i needed help to put on my dress this really delayed things!  there was a rain shower before our ceremony so the beach was empty so was perfect for us!  the minister was lovely.  after the ceremony we had the 3 milk cake and champers then went off for photos.  we had to pay a tip to get access into the hacienda too.  i just offered $10 and the man said ok.  we were meant to have a private dinner on the beach in the evening but the resort cancelled due to the rain :(  we went to the italian instead and had one of the private booths.  i really expected the bath to be ready after our meal but nothing!!  this was disappointing!!

on the whole i loved my day and am sure all future smb brides will too!

Hey Carissa,

I've been working with Cecilia and you can definitely switch out items in the packages.  I have the ultimate package and like you I'm not using the hair or make up service, and I'm bringing my own officiant.  In return, I am am able to the get the sound system for the ceremony. Of course everything has to equal out as far as the value but she'll let you know what will work.  So...simply ask! cheesy.gif

Thanks for the info!  By the way...I was going to book Jan 14th, but then I saw you booked it, so now we are probably going to book Jan 7th!  What dates will you be there?

You know, I've been trying to figure out how Valeria and Cecilia divide the weddings.  Up until this point, I've only worked with Cecilia (and hope it remains that way).  Do you think it may be based on the size of the wedding or possibly the day of the wedding?  I think you should be able to simply ask through email if you can work specifically with Cecilia...it's worth the try!

I did a site visit when I was down in Mexico in January and I met with Valeria.  I am pretty sure Valeria is new and she is kind of Cecilia's assistant.  So I wouldn't be surprised if Valeria takes care of the smaller events whereas Cecilia does the larger ones.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
