Jodi - You can setup a private dinner with the front desk, or your concierge once you arrive at the resort. They set them up on the beach and I also saw some by the pool.

mellyrobert, I didn't talk to Cecilia at all on the phone. All of my communication was via email before I arrived. We got there on a Sunday, and our ceremony wasn't until Friday, so there was ample time to make decisions. Cecilia has package options for flowers, boutonnieres, corsages, bridesmaid, etc. Just ask her to email those to you, and you can customize beyond that. I took pieces from a couple different bridal bouquets in her photos to come up with mine, and there was no extra charge. They also have an "upgraded" bouquet option, but the flowers included in the package are gorgeous so that wasn't necessary for me. I picked the flowers about a month before the ceremony and waited until I arrived to pick the locations for my cocktail hour and Reception, so don't worry about it if you have last minute things to do when you arrive.
There are basic white linens and chair covers included in the packages. Beyond that, you'd have to pay extra, or bring your own. Cecilia can provide you with pictures of their basic reception table setup, or you can email me and I can send what I have to you (lynneakylewedding@gmail.com).

Hi Ladies!! I have decided to have my wedding at SMB and now filling out the Q&A form!!!

Questions to all of you ladies - are you using travel agency or just directly booking your rooms? I am trying to find a good TA and if there is one you can recommend, pleaaase share!!! I hear direct booking is cheaper but using TA if something happens (flight cancel, hotel change at last minute etc), TA can handle all the crises. I'm looking into Destinationweddings.com since that has lots of testimonials on their website, and seems like they are widely used. Or is there a website that has reviews on DW TA??

Thanks!!

Hi ReeRee! Congrats!!!

Many of us are using our own TA's and I believe I did hear from someone that they are using destinationweddings.com. I'm unsure if direct booking is actually cheaper than getting a group rate from a TA. So far, it has been cheaper for our guests to book through our TA and not on their own via Expedia or any of those other sites.

Also, a TA can negotiate perks for you and your group - such as free upgrades depending on how many rooms you book, free rooms, resort credits, and private check-in. You are right too - that if something terrible happens, they will handle it for you and your guests.

You have enough to worry about as a bride - let someone else handle the travel arrangements for your guests :)

I'm not sure how destinationweddings.com works but if they act as a liason btwn you and the wedding coordinator, I think working directly with Cecilia is the best way to do it.

I looked into using Luxe Destination Weddings back when we got engaged but they were so pricey and we figured we have experience with traveling and could handle it all - which we are and has actually been a pleasure planning it.

Good luck!

hey ReeRee... Congrats! I'm actually using destinationweddings.com.... and so far they have been great! I have heard some negative reviews though, I think it depends on who you get. I compared their prices to expedia, and the Secrets website, and destinationweddings.com was definately the lowest rate. I have been dealing with Cecilia directly, and just cc'ing everything to my TA which has been working well.

Hi Jaccat15 and saza175!!!! Thank you SO SO much for your info! your info is very helpful! I feel like I am stepping forward finally! I am very indecisive and this website is so good for someone like me to hear what everyone else is doing. Questions to both of you, how many guests are you having? Because I'm wondering more guests you have, more rooms to book, therefore more discounts? I will only have 10 guests or so, so I'm wondering if discounts won't be much with booking through TA.

Happy Cinco De Mayo!

thanks everyone for your comments. we are not doing a site vistit hence why i am so worried about the specifics. the one thing i am worried about is little personal touches. it seems like all the ladies on this site have every detail worked out! the last thing i want is to have to pack a bunch of stuff for the reception tables! does anyone have any suggestions for an outside photographer?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
