    Thanks New York!

It is so hard to decide where to have a reception when you haven't been there to see it. We are going to have a beach bonfire for the rehearsal dinner on Friday night...and as much as I would like to have a beach/pool reception I am worried about the heat, the bugs and the wind since July is hot, hot, hot. Maybe Cecelia will let us spend a night there before we have to make all of the final decisions to check out what it's like in the evenings.

We are having the ceremony down the road in an air conditioned beach front chapel at the marina, so I don't know if we should do something on the beach since we are dragging all of our loved ones all of the way to Mexico for a destination wedding.

I did really like the pics of the foyer to the ballroom you posted! Where is the terrace you mentioned?

We just went with what was included...tulle wrapped around the posts, which looks really nice:-)
If you want it to look a little nicer, or more elaborate, then flowers would look really nice...I think some SMB girls have added flowers...maybe they have pics to post?? :-)

My only warning about flowers is that some flowers may be hard to get fresh in Mexico...
Here's a link to a thread that may help you:

          http://bestdestinati....ilty-list-819/

I paid $130 extra to have calla lillies and they weren't that great...most of them were dead or half-dead and some stems were so mushy my dress got a tiny stain on it! (thankfully, not noticeable:-))

So, my advice for the bouquet, is to just go with whatever is included in your package -- I wish had:-) Everyone who just went with what's included had gorgeous bouquets! (AND you won't have to pay extra:-))

Obviously, you'll have to pay extra to have flowers wrapped around the beach gazebo/structure, but maybe try to stick with whatever flowers are available in Mexico that time of year...

I think its official that we have a date! We are just waiting to hear back from Cecila if our date is available. We are hoping for December 13, 2010. Its actually the day we got engaged at Secrets Maroma in 2008. Its so exciting to finally have a date.

We actually originally wanted Dec. 12th but couldn't b/c it's a Mexican national holiday -- Our Lady of Guadalupe day I thnk?:-)
Anyway, assuming the holiday is just one day, you should be fine:-)

What wedding package did you all pick for your wedding?? We are having a hard time deciding between the Secrets of Love package and the Secrets Ultimate Wedding package. Any advice would be great! Thanks!!

I also had the same dilemma. I finally decided on the Secrets Ultimate Package b/c of the videographer....and he was WELL WORTH IT. We didn't actually have the "owner" do our video but the guy who did our video (he only told me his once so I can't remember what it is) was awesome. People LOVE our video and I'm so incredibly glad I have a video. I was against a video initially because it seemed so lame but once I saw other girls' videos I knew I wanted a videographer.

The package photogs are a bit cheesy so if pictures are really important to you I'd suggest hiring an outside vendor.

We also chose the Ultimate package for the Mexican trio (we used them during the cocktail hour) and the Gold "cocktail" hour although we did upgrade to Platinum for that.

For whatever package you pick be advised ahead of time that for us the "late check-out" based upon availability got us an extra hour and we had to fight tooth and nail for it. I know the resort was not filling up because it was during the swine flu epidemic and people were actually LEAVING the resort. They were just being stingy.

Also, we weren't given a groom's room for the night before the wedding even though we asked twice about it. My husband pretended to be sad when I asked for the room so I didn't push for it. I think Simistar maybe had to fight tooth and nail to get a room for her man the night before?

We did use the couples massage and upgrade from 30 minutes to 60 minutes and only had to pay difference. It was nice!

Thank you Kits! That was really helpful. We weren't sure about the video either but now hearing that you loved it, it might be worth it. We were also debating about the Caribbean Trio as well.

Thats a bummer to hear you had to really pick a fight with them about the late check out and the grooms room, especially since its something THEY offer in their packages.

We had the couples massage when we were there last December and it was amazing, I would love to get it again.

Thanks again for your help :)
