Hi un4gitabl. So excited you have food pics!! I've been hunting the internet for them and can't find any!! Also, did you go with the DJ that the resort provided? I'm going with them... I think they're called AVISPL, but don't see any reviews on them so was worried if they're great at working the crowd (although I'm only having 30 guests). Did you find that the beach at night was windy almost every night? Sorry for all the questions, and thank you for your help in advance!! :)

Okay, the site has changed since I was last on here so I am replying to two recent posts I think. I got married in November at SMB and it was FABULOUS!!!! I have not posted my review yet because we immediately went in to holidays and then started buying a new house when we got home so it's been a bit a of a whirlwind. So overall, let me ease your mind, your wedding will be beautiful! Cecilia knows what she is doing. I made a bunch of last minute chnages once I got down there and she accomodated them all. I will get in to that in my review, but I wanted to say I had 38 people and the best decision we made was to add a DJ last minute. I can see that a JAMBOX would work, but it was so nice to not have to worry about music during the reception! We used a JAMBOX for our bonfire on the beach the night before and since it was a VERY windy night we couldn't really hear the music.

I do have pictures of the wedding food, but not on the computer that I am on. I am going to try to remember to get on here tonight and upload some pictures when I am at home.

Happy Planning and again, I promise, your wedding will be beautiful!!! :-)

Congrats!

I'm debating the DJ so you might have just pushed me towards it!

I can't wait to see the pictures!!

Has anyone used the onsite photographer. In the package I'm getting I believe it just comes with photography for the ceremony and a little time for some posed pictures. I really wanted a photographer for getting ready pictures, ceremony, and reception. The onsite photographer is pretty pricey for more time so I am curious what everyone else has done. Thanks!

Hi! I actually decided to go with Juan Navarro. He used to be part of their onsite photography a couple of years back and still has a working relationship with Maroma. He doesn't get charged outside vendor fees. His work looks awesome.

I haven't signed on to this site in quite some time. But I am getting down on my countdown..May 23 is my day! About 50 something days to go.

I will probably be posting more frequently now that it's getting closer, so ask away!

How many guests are you expecting?

Where are you going to have your reception?

Who is doing your flowers or did you go through the resort?

I am expecting 16 guests for a total of 18 including us.

As of right now, our reception is the ocean terrace, but I am open to other locations now that it's such a small number of people (I originally quoted for 40.)

I am not using the resort for flowers. I am actually making my own bouquets. (I am not a very big flower person anyway).

:)

How far in advance did everyone start talking about more of the small details with the wedding coordinator? I have our locations and times secured, but I am curious when I should start talking to her more about the other stuff like cake and flowers and possibly photography options.

My wedding is just a month before yours and I've started talking to Cecilia about smaller details. I sent her pictures of cake options last week and she said she would forward them to the chef and let me know if there would be an up charge.

I've also booked a guitarist for the ceremony.

She referred me to Planner1 Events for rental items like lighting and alternative chairs.

I've been trying to ask he about flowers but haven't got a clear answer from her.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
