Hi Newloves, We did special package number 1. It gave us enough time to have them come early and do photos of us getting ready, then the ceremony and photos after. We went to the mansion next door and did photos there. After that we went to the cocktail hour which was pretty much over and he took photos of us doing the cake cutting, toasts, and first dance and mother/son dance. We did all of that before dinner. 5 hours was up at that point and it went by really fast. If you are not having a reception, 3 hours would be fine. He could def make it work for you.  He sent me about 800 proofs about 4 weeks after the wedding. I went through and chose what photos or what size I wanted. He has printed them and I am waiting for the Fed Ex package now!
Was it hard to decide on which photos from the 800? Were they all pretty decent? It just doesn't sound like that many for 5 hours of time with 2 photographers. Did he take out all of the bad ones, like eyes closed, blurry, talking, etc? I'm not a photographer but my friend is and when she did our engagement pictures it took about 2 hours and I had hundreds of pictures to go through. I ended up with 200 good ones.

It wasn't hard for me to decide which photos from the 800. They were not all photos that I loved, so I just didn't choose those. There were no photos in the proofs that he sent me that were blurry or with our eyes closed, so he would have removed any of those. I wouldn't say all of the "bad" ones were taken out because there were plenty that I didn't like of myself. I wouldn't really say they were bad photos, just not ones that I loved. For me personally, I felt like 800 was a ton to go through and choose from. I was actually overwhelmed doing it and it took me several weeks. I had several photos of everything, I would say maybe 6 of my dress, a few of my jewelry, tons of us getting ready, and so on. We had plenty of photos at the mansion and of the ceremony. There were plenty of the toasts, etc.  For me personally, I didn't need or want any other photos to choose from. Out of the 800 photos, I ended up with 400 good ones that I chose and I am just anxiously waiting for them to come through Fed Ex. I am very excited to see the album. I will be happy to take a few pics of the album so you can see what it looks like.

Thanks! That makes me feel a lot better. Almost 30 days away and I'm starting to freak out. I saw your pictures on Juan's blog already. They looked great and you looked beautiful!

Thank you! And just so you know, some of the ones he put on his blog are ones that I would consider "bad" and didn't choose those out of the 800. There are some that I did choose, but some that I didn't also.

Can we talk about photos again?

I have Juan booked and special photo package 1 (5 hours).

I'm Starting to think this might be too much time since now I'm not really going to have much of a reception. Most of the other packages are 3 hours. Will that be enough time?

What photo package is every one else getting? If I switch to package 5 for 3 hours I will get 250 digital images. That just doesn't sound like it is that many pictures. But if I can pick the pictures that i get then it might be ok.

I'm also doing the TTD the following day.

I have taken 3 hours packet, no printed pictures and all digital files.

I didn't want loose time in my vacation choosing pictures so I have decided to not ask any printed images whilst I wanted all the shot.

With 3 hours you don't have pictures before the ceremony (they don't came in the room for preparation), you have time for the ceremony, for the old mansion and some at the beginning of the dinner. If cut the cake at the end of the dinner you will not have professional pictures.

For my small wedding (only 10 people) this packet has been perfect!

Thank you CriCri! My wedding will be the same size as yours. It helps to know what you can get photos of in 3 hours. I definitely want pictures getting ready and before the ceremony, so I think I'm going to get a 3 hour package and add an hour. 4 hours seems like it will be perfect. Now to decide which 3 hour package to get! :D

Hi ladies! Our wedding is coming up - October 20!!!! Just a few questions..

-for those doing the ceremony on the beach - what setup are you using? any special decorations?

-are you making a seating chart for your guests? we have around 35 people. How many people per table are you doing?

-are you planning on printing copies of your menu to take to place at the tables?

-what kind of things are you putting in the OOT bags? where are you buying them?

-we are looking to buy maracas to put on the tables - any ideas on affordable options??

Thanks!!! : )

That's exciting!  Ours is almost here too...we leave in 10 days!!!   I can't believe how fast it went.

We are doing the ceremony on the beach.  I think we're just doing the plain white chairs (no covers) and the white sheer fabric on the structure.  I'm doing some flowers, but I'm going to decide exactly what kind when we get there.  I like the flowers on the chairs down the aisle.  I also like the corsages on the structure, but I'm afraid they get a little lost because of the width of it.  I haven't decided yet if it's worth the extra money.

We finalized the menu already, so I am planning on doing menus.  One of the long list of things I still have to do =)

I did the OOT bags.  I bought drawstring bags at 5 Below.  You can see them here: http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/t/79713/beach-themed-drawstring-oot-bags-at-five-below As far as contents, I did a survival kit like a lot of the other brides (bandaids, Tums, Imodium, Motrin, Hand Sanitizer from BBW, nail files for the ladies, Emergen-C, Tissues, SPF Lip Balm & Aloe from Target) and disposable waterproof cameras.  The cameras I got from a vendor on Ebay.  They come without packaging, so I got clear bags and a bag topper for them.  I'm also doing a welcome book.

I got Maracas from Amol's.  You'll see them mentioned on here a lot.  They're awesome to work with and the maracas are nice.  Plus, I love that they say Mexico on them.  They'll let you pick the colors you want, assuming they have what you want in stock, and they turn things around quickly.  I got the medium maracas seen here: http://www.amols.com/catalog/medium-traditional-maracas.  I think they're a perfect size.  I was afraid the large would take up too much room in a suitcase on the way down.  We have about 35 guests too.  I did one maraca per person. Just remember when you order, that they sell them in pairs.

2 flowers poles plus pink and fuxia fabrics for the canopy

1 centerpiece for the central table and sashes

Pink and fuxia sashes for the chairs, fans, bubbles over the chairs

Petals and aisle arrangments on the sides

-are you making a seating chart for your guests? we have around 35 people. How many people per table are you doing?

No, we were only in 10 and we had one big round table without fixed seats.

-are you planning on printing copies of your menu to take to place at the tables?

Yes, on the table I had printed menu, sweet box and maracas (that are perfect if you have mariachi session during the dinner)

No OOT bags for me

Thanks!!! : )

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
