I have a little bit over 2 months until the wedding. I just sent Cecilia an email asking how much time I have to decide if I need to change it or not.

I feel guilty for holding on to the reception location, there is another wedding that day and she may want it, who knows.

My RSVP date is September 15th. I hope I'll have a better idea then.

That should be fine.  I'm sure this happens often enough with destination weddings to not be a problem.  If you haven't given the resort the final guest count, you should still be able to change and do what you want.  I can understand feeling guilty about holding onto the gazebo, but you may get some helpful information from Cecilia.  It could be that the other bride wanted a beach wedding. :)

Hi!! I don't know if it is bad etiquette to ask this or not.  If so, please forgive me.  I'm pretty new to the site and was trying to see your templates.  I think I don't have enough posts to see the pre-travel brochure but was interested in taking a look.  Could someone please email it to me at [email protected]?   I have booked SMB for July 6, 2013 and am trying to get alot of these projects knocked out prior to classes starting in the fall.  Thanks a bunch and I look forward to chatting with you all!! Happy Planning!!

Thanks!  I can't take too much credit.  I took most of it from another bride.  Just tweaked some of the wording and added the details for Secrets. I'm glad they turned out ok though!

Starting to count down the weeks until we leave! Can't wait!

One logistical question for those of you who have been married at Secrets or are more organized than I am who have already figured this out...

We're getting married on the beach, having a cocktail hour there and having our reception up at a restaurant. We're only having ~20 people so we're just going to go to the nightclub afterwards for dancing. Has anyone else done this? If so what did you do about the dress? I'm wearing a long dress and though it has a bustle I think it may get wrecked if I'm dragging it around the nightclub all night. Not to mention that I may look a bit overdressed :). I want to wear my dress as long as possible, but am wondering if I should just change into a short white dress for afterwards...

If you ladies could weigh in on this I would really appreciate the input and advice from those who've been through this. Thanks!

Only a few weeks to go! Congrats!  We're getting close too and it's so hard to believe how fast it's all flown by.  I'm planning on going to Desires after the reception too.  Who knows what will happen when the time actually comes, but I'm planning on changing into a short dress at that point.  I'm worried about my dress getting trashed too, plus I figure by that point, it'll just be more comfortable to be in something lighter and shorter.

I did not go to the nightclub, but had a reception with dancing and my dress was trashed. We jumped in the pool at the end of the night but my dress had already been stepped on, bustle ripped out, and a large rip in the fabric. So, if you are wanting to preserve your dress and plan on dancing all night like I did, you may want to change. The nightclub doesn't open til later in the evening(10:30 I think) and I didn't spend any time there, but my guests did and said it gets a good number of people.

Thanks for the advice ladies.

I think the operative term in this case may be "we'll see what happens". Maybe I'll just bring an alternate dress and see how sweaty and uncomfortable I am by the end of the reception. I guess I don't really have any plans of preserving the dress anyway, just seems sad to wreck it, but I'm not sure I'll want to take it off...

Hi Everyone! I'm getting married a SMB on May 19, 2013!  Am just starting the planning process with Celia and would love some recommendations.  We are going with the Ultimate Wedding Package and will have approx 40 guests.  Questions for you...

1) Reception Recommendations - For an outside wedding reception, would you recommend the gazebo terrace, pool terrace, or garden?

2) Music - Do it yourself sound system or DJ??  Which is the way to go?

3) Rehersal Dinner - It sounds like you can't make reservations for a large group in the restaurant.  What about the bonfire idea??  I would like to get my guests together prior to the wedding, recommendations are welcome please. =)

4) Has anyone done an alternative to wedding cake?  My finace hates cake (I know, Weird-O). =)  Any suggestions!

Thanks!! Can't wait to hear your recommendations!

Karin (Denver, CO)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
