Hello everyone!! I will be getting married here October 20, 2012!!

What are you all doing (or did you do) for hair and makeup? Did you use the Spa Staff or an outside vendor?

Cecilia recommended 2 outside vendors..

1. Adian from the Styling Trio

2. Melissa from MVP hair and makeup

Does anyone have any experience with these stylists or opinions??

THANKS : )

Hi BrideRN!! Congrats :)! I am getting married the weekend after you! We arrive on Wednesday, October 24th, so maybe you will still be at the resort and we can have a celebratory cocktail!!!! I think CKRN used the Styling Trio for her wedding last week. She communicates with this thread and would be be a good resource! I have chosen to use the on site spa services. I will be bringing my own makeup and plan to do a 'trial' run a couple days before the wedding for good measure. Happy Planning!!!!

You will have a wonderful time.

Cri, it was so nice to meet you.  Receiving well wishes from you and your husband-to-be made us forget the little things and reminded us of the real reason we were there - to begin life together with the one we love and share that moment with our loving family/friends.

I will try and get to a full review later, but for now here are a few quick tips:

Concierge is very useful.  We ordered maracas for the ceremony through the concierge who lives in Cancun City.  Very authentic.

Best food is the grilled dishes and from the steakhouse.  If you are going to choose Gold or Platinum for your dinner reception entrees, I would try negotiating with Cecilia to ask for the steaks from the steakhouse.  If it is included in the resort, why not make it available as a dinner reception item.

If you are using the Sound System for your ceremony, just put all the songs in a single playlist on your iPod and go over it with the technician.  It will go off without a hitch.

The forum was so helpful and I will be posting more in days to come to help future brides.

Please feel free to PM me with any specific questions.

Have a great time!  I'm so excited for you!

Hi bride RN

I just came back home from SMB.

I have used SPA for make up and hair style and I have done a trial the day before.

I'm very happy, you can change what you don't like or don't convince you and at the end I have been very satisfy.

The make up is waterproof so no problem with umidity, winter, kiss ... you can cry without problem ;-)

For the hair style, you must wash your hair in the room, they make only the hair style and I liked it expecially the wedding day where the result was better then the trial.

One suggestion, ask to use al lot of hair pins and fixing spray because the wind is very strong in the beach!!

Cri, I second what Amber said!  I can't wait to see pics and hear how everything went.   Same thing for CKRN and Beachbride!

I'm down to 4 months now!  The panic is slowly starting to set in.  It seems like there is SO much to do!  I'm trying to lay out a timeline to organize everything I need to do.  Does anyone know how early you need to give a final guest count to Valeria or Cecilia?  Did you/ are you picking out the menu and flowers before getting to the resort?  How early?  We're expecting 30-40 guests so I'm guessing some of this needs to be decided ahead of time.  Thanks!

I am feeling your anxiety KC!!! I  have right under five months, and the timeline thing is becoming overwhelming. I cant seem to focus on one part because I get sidetracked so easily. We are hoping to have between 50-75 guests, and I just emailed Cecilia today if we can arrange to try all the food options the day we arrive. My fiance has pretty much let me take the reins . . except in the food department, LOL. I will let you know what she says.

I am still confused on the beach ceremony options. I also asked her to send me both chuppah options with only what is included in the cost. I have so many differing emails, Im getting confused!!!

Wow!  I thought I had a lot of people coming.  That's impressive!  No wonder you're getting anxious.  Definitely let me know what Cecilia says about the food.  I'd love to do a tasting, but I'd also like to have as much decided before we get there as possible, so I'm a little torn on that.  My Fiance is letting me handle things too, but I will get his opinion on the food.  That's one of the few things he'll have an opinion about!  Haha!

I haven't gotten much into the details with Valeria yet, but I'm afraid that once I do it's going to get confusing.  From what I've heard you get a lot of different answers and things aren't always clear.  I guess that's the downside to getting married in Mexico.  It's going to be a crazy few months!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
