Granted, it looks a little plain without any added decoration, but so does the old beach setup and the Gazebo. I think there's a lot more you can do with the new one to dress it up. I immediately thought of these ideas for you guys (all taken from this site)...

Colored draping.  Anything with color, whether it's flower or fabric will pop against the dark wood.

Crystals, crystals and more crystals!

The crystals are to die for, but I love the big tropical leaves with the white flowers at the base  too.  Those would like nice in the front on each side.

Strands of flowers for a more romatic look....

This makes me want to change my location.  It's definitely different than what you were all planning for but there is a lot of potentional!

Thanks for these lovely ideas... especially the crystals.  Are these all options or pictures from secrets weddings?

I am a little late on this... could one of you PM me the pic of the new one.  I think I may have seen it but not sure and if so I LOVE IT

No, these aren't from weddings at Secrets.  These were just inspiration pictures to give ideas how to dress up a similar structure.

So I leave for Mexico in one week!

Today I made my escort cards and finished my table numbers. I need to make and print my welcome letters and steam my chair sashes as they are super wrinkled.

I also made my appointment to have my hair and make-up done at the spa. I am doing a trial as well. This is probably what makes me the most nervous. Just not knowing if it will look good or not.

I've also decided to change up my centerpieces a bit, so I need to do a trial on those today to see how they look.

For anyone who is curious on how I am getting all of my things to Mexico, I have decided that instead of packing all of the decor into suitcases, I am packing it into 2 cardboard boxes. That way I won't have to check the bags on the return trip. One box is almost completely full of maracas and chair sashes, and the other is OOT bags and the rest of the decor. I really wont bring most of it back.

Okay, well I guess I should get busy. I can't believe I am leaving in one week to get married in such a beautiful place!!!

Don't worry about hair style an make up, i had the trial 2 days before and you can change if you don't like anything. I got married yesterday and they were very nice and professional and the result was better then the trial! One suggestion, if you don't like hair in front of your face during the ceremony you must choose a wrapped hair style with a lot of fixing-spray, in the beach it's very windy! Congratulation and have a good trip!

Hi Ladies,

We had our wedding on May 12, 2012 and it was wonderful.  I am excited for all those that are there now and will be going.

You will have a wonderful time.

Cri, it was so nice to meet you.  Receiving well wishes from you and your husband-to-be made us forget the little things and reminded us of the real reason we were there - to begin life together with the one we love and share that moment with our loving family/friends.

I will try and get to a full review later, but for now here are a few quick tips:

Concierge is very useful.  We ordered maracas for the ceremony through the concierge who lives in Cancun City.  Very authentic.

Best food is the grilled dishes and from the steakhouse.  If you are going to choose Gold or Platinum for your dinner reception entrees, I would try negotiating with Cecilia to ask for the steaks from the steakhouse.  If it is included in the resort, why not make it available as a dinner reception item.

If you are using the Sound System for your ceremony, just put all the songs in a single playlist on your iPod and go over it with the technician.  It will go off without a hitch.

The forum was so helpful and I will be posting more in days to come to help future brides.

Please feel free to PM me with any specific questions.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
