When did everyone's guest book their trip, or how many have booked already? My wedding is not until October (5 months to go)! I got a fairly good response from my save the dates. I am driving myself crazy checking the prices. I don't know if I got a good deal on my trip, but the prices are going up, and up, and up! Today I checked at its $1700 pp for a 6night 7day trip. My guest aren't going to pay that, and I don't want to feel like I am forcing them to stay at Secrets, but I really want them to. I want to be able to spend time together, have dinner, drinks, etc. Is anyone else freaking out over the rise in prices? Have any guests backed out after saying they want to go?

I posted this on another site already, but I would suggest that you look at doing a shorter number of days for your guests. Are they coming from DFW? If so, I think 3-4 nights is fine to keep it at a reasonable price, and you will probably have more guests and ones who are willing to stay at your resort.

I told my guests when that, "Most guests who are booking are staying for 3 nights, and some are staying for 4, but you are welcome to stay longer if you want to."

I was going to suggest the same thing!  A lot of our guests are only coming for 3 or 4 nights.  It makes the price more reasonable and it's a little easier to fit in their schedules.  We just told our guests when the scheduled events would be (just the wedding day and a bonfire either the night or two nights before).  We didn't plan too many events so that people wouldn't feel like they had to come for an extended period.

A lot of my guests just came out for 3 nights 4 days and it saved everyone money and made it affordable. Just a thought. Congrats!!

Hey Newloves!  Well, we recently ran into this problem.  Everyone said yeah sure we are coming, and we gave them the website with an estimate of the prices for a 3, 5, and 7 day trip from 3 different states because our guests are coming from New York, Oklahoma, and California.  I thought I had given everyone a really good idea of how much it was going to be.  And they all said yes that they were coming after seeing it.  We worked with a travel agent to get the best possible deal for everyone and all they had to do was put $150 deposit down to save their room.  Well guess what happened?  Pretty much everyone but our family dragged their feet and lo and behold all of the rooms at Secrets got booked up for our wedding with the exception of the honeymoon suites and the preferred club swimouts.  So then they were like "woah that place is too expensive".  So, now over half of our guests have to stay at another resort :(.  And, I am super sad because that changes the whole trip.  We will only get to see them the day of the wedding and if they come on an excursion with us!  But, what's done is done.  I can't control what other people do, even if I try.  So, if your guests don't commit to staying there now then there is a good chance that they will wait too long and the prices will go  up even more.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
