It is $250 for the setup and the bonfire lasts for 2 hours. We are doing a bar setup and that is an additional $10pp plus tax and gratuity. Cecilia suggested that we start at 8:30 so that everyone would have time to eat dinner before hand. We are doing the bonfire as a welcome party on Friday night. The wedding isn't until Sunday. I just don't want to be up and out drinking that late the night before the wedding.

Is that including a bar setup as well? I hadn't really considered doing this as I thought it wouldn't be in the budget, but at that price I just may.

We're getting married in August so the bonfire would probably be starting later as the sunsets later. I'd probably rather eat beforehand, but having a bar setup would be a definite.

How long of a bonfire does that $250 include?

Thanks for sharing

Thanks!  I think we're going to do the same setup.  It might be a good idea for us to have it Thursday instead of Friday.  I was waiting to see when most people were coming in before I finalized it.  We're very excited about the bonfire too!

That is the main reason we are doing in on Friday rather than Saturday. I just don't want to be up drinking til 10:30 the night before the wedding.

I am so excited!!

Thanks so much for the info. That's one of the more reasonably priced things I've seen offered at Secrets.

Hello all, just thinking about the resort and activities.  I don't really feel the webiste does it justice.  Does anyone know where to find the information on what activities are offered at the resort.  I heard you can take cooking, dancing lessons etc.

Where is that info?

We are doing the bonfire too!  We are including open international bar and dessert for our guests. I think it was $18/per person.

Hello, ladies!

I am new here and trying to figure out if we will be able to swing a Secret Maroma Beach wedding in January.  We know this is the place for us, however we're not sure when we'll be able to save enough.  January does not give us much time, but we did want a short engagement.

May question is this: I know that the first package is complimentary, we have decided to go with the Secrets Ultimate Package.  Do they apply a discount to the other packages to compensate for the Wedding in Paradise being free?  ie: Ultimate costs $2999 and the Wedding in Paradise is $949, do they adjust the price thus making the Ultimate $2050?

I hope I haven't confused anyone.  Thanks for your help in advance!!

Nicole

Hmmmmm.....pretty much all resorts have "entertainment" such as volleyball, dance lessons, yoga, cooking demonstrations, tequila tasting, and different things like that every day. There will probably be a list of things going and give time/location when you get to the resort. Besides that, the entertainment staff will likely be out all day looking for people to participate in those things. Not sure if that is what you are asking, but that is the only thing I can think of.

Great! I'm still considering the desert part.  Did they tell you what the desert is?

Beachbride is correct.  They have the activities Beachbride listed and every day the guests receive a newsletter called the Sundial in their rooms which lists all of the activities.  Side note:  If you're on Facebook, find the facebook page for Secrets Maroma!  They have someone who manages it - the "e-concierge".   The E-concierge also has a separate page.  I follow both.  There are a lot of pictures posted by guests and people ask a lot of questions which get answered regularly by the e-concierge and other people who have been there.  It's been very helpful.

If you have a resort related question, I would post it on the facebook page rather than emailing the wedding coordinators to get the quickest response.  You'll also get answers and suggestions from other guests which is helpful.  If you look through the past posts, chances are someone has already asked the question and the answer is right there.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
