We are doing an ipod dock from home for bonfire, sound system for the ceremony, the mexican trio for the cocktail hour, and the resort DJ for the reception.

Need some ideas from all the SM brides......

  • Bring your own ipod dock?
  • pay $180+tax for the Sound System for Ceremony?
  • Hire Live music band?

I'm going to have a symbolic ceremony on the beach and i've heard the whole ceremony will be less than 30 mins.  It seems kinna $$$ to spend $700+ to hire a Violinist.

Hi BeachBride2013, do you know what the SOUND SYSTEM includes?  Does it includes microphone?

i've seen some comments about the ocean waves gett'n too loud and the guests might not hear from the couple during the ceremony.  Do you think it's true?

I could see it being too loud because of wind and waves so it is probably true just depending on the weather that day. The sound system does include a microphone so there should be no problem. I know that they will fade the music in and out for you at the right times, so that is the main reason I am using it. I am worried that something will go wrong with the music if I have an ipod during the ceremony. I don't really have anyone who can work it for me during the wedding. We are doing the ultimate package and are substituting some stuff so we can put that cost toward the DJ.

Speaking of music, I am trying to put my list of songs together for the ceremony. Are y'all having 1 song or more than that for the prelude? I only have a 3 minute song and am wondering if I should have at least 2? I've never been to a destination wedding so I really don't know how long it will take guests to be seated. We are having about 17 seated guests at the ceremony. Hmmm.....

I bring with me the ipod and I will pay for the Sound System for Ceremony in the beach. Now I'm selecting the right sons.... do you know how many songs we need for it?

I will take mariachi for the reception, we are a small group so I think we can enjoy the dinner with the mexican music around the table.

No live music band for us

Songs for Ceremony
1. Prelude Music - we will pick 15 mins mix songs to be played in the background while guests arrive and are seated.

2. Processional - we just had one  for the bridesmaids and myself

3. Interlude melodies- provide transition during parts of the ceremony where there is no one speaking

4. Recessional - one upbeat song as you and your new hubby walk back down the aisle

Hi KCDawn, we also are planning to use our iPod for the music. Because we're going on a cruise afterward I'm worried about having enough space in my pack for everything + the dock. I'm worried that buying a smaller model may not give enough sound though. Is the Bose Sounddock the most appropriate one you've seen?

So if you really want live music and there's something in the package you don't need, you could get some credit to put towards it.

This is super helpful! Thanks,

How many transition songs do you think will be needed?

Bose was our first thought because they're typically top of the line and we figured we could splurge a little since we're saving money not getting a dj or renting a system.  We're still researching which one we want to get but we wanted to get a good one so it's loud enough and has good sound quality.  Even if we go with the Bose, there are a couple different Sounddock options -   Sounddock 10, Sounddock Portable and the Sounddock Series II.  The Sounddock 10 is the most expensive at $599 but it's also the biggest and heaviest at 18.5 lbs.  The other two are around 5 lbs which would make more sense in carrying it to Mexico.  We're going to go to Best Buy or somewhere like that to get an opinion on whether either of the smaller ones would still do what we need.  I'll let you know if we figure anything out anytime soon!

Is there anyway you could PM me or email me these pics.  I was just informed that my reception location fell through and am now considering the barracuda or the beach and I cannot view your files.  My email is niccc80@yahoo.com

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
