I'm bringing chair sashes, and maybe some linens.  I wanted to bring Chinese lanterns as well, but Cecilia said there was no way for them to set them up without me bringing the poles.  We opted to get 20 Lanterns...its sooo expensive and its dumb cause their not that expensive to buy..but oh well I guess they've got me and i love the way they look :)

I am shipping my chair sashes, OOT bags, centerpieces, and maracas to the hotel by the end of next week. I can't wait for the wedding!!!!

I am surely trying to save some money by sendiing this stuff down there first. I just don't know the shipping cost, but I think i will come out ahead still!

Is anyone else bringing your decorations (chair sashes, pommanders, centerpieces, linens)? I hate the idea of having to haul everything there, and then having to make sure it is set up appropriately, but it certainly seems a lot cheaper. And will also give me piece of mind that the colors are exactly what I was looking for :)

Do you know if they charge you to tie the chair sashes you bring?  I thought I saw somewhere they charge $2 for each one, but I can't remember where I saw that.  Just wondering if you had asked Cecilia or Valeria about this.  I was considering bringing chair sashes too.  We still have a little while to go.

I'm interested in knowing this as well.  Hope it's not true.  I feel we are already overpaying for the other decor items already.

I know how you feel!  I feel the same way, but it looks like either pay for it or don't get it.  Guess they got me too. =T

Does anyone else have experience with being able to bring their own Chinese lanterns?

I have read that in the past, they did not charge to set up chair sashes and centerpieces. It's very frustrating if they changed this. If they are going to charge per chair sash, I will have someone from my family tie them. I'm not going to pay $2 per bow. We have already blown our budge by several thousand dollars.

I also read that you would need to double the amount of sashes because they will not transfer the bows from the ceremony to the reception because of time. So maybe this has changed, but I am planning on doubling up on my sashes because of this. I would not want to risk it if you think there is a chance that Cecilia could be misunderstanding what you are asking.

I have also read that they DO charge quite a bit to set up lanterns because they have an outside company do it or something like that. So even if you bring your own, they still charge a significant amount (if not the same amount). I would check with Cecilia to be sure but I think someone posted something about this recently.

Lola, it sounds like you are really on top of things! You wedding sounds beautiful!!! I was also wondering what was included as far as decor in the ultimate package. I have a feeling that there really isn't much included. I haven't thought about how the ceremony arch will be decorated. I guess I should think about that now.

I'm shipping my OOT bags, sashes, and centerpieces down there. I will send the stuff back with some of my guests and myself and just get it from them when we get back home. I was thinking about leaving my centerpieces down there so I don't have to deal with it, but if they are going to charge me to set them up, then I am bringing them back!

Okay last post I swear! I am now really confused as to the reception locations. I am wanting to do it at the location that I see in most of the pictures next to the swimming pool. Which location is this? Is it the Gazebo terrace? The pool terrace? or the seaside terrace? I'm so confused as to which one is which. Can someone please clarify?

I'm looking for colored wood maracas, where have you found them?

Have you asked to the wedding planner the cost of them?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
