Where is everyone having their cocktail hour? We are doing our ceremony on the beach and our reception on gazebo terrace.. I am just not sure where to do the cocktail hour? Any suggestions???

We have booked Juan Navarro and the DJ from the hotel - Ismael? Has anyone used either of these people????

I am also wondering about feedback from the salon for hair and makeup!! Any thoughts?

THANKS : )

BrideRN how did you book Juan? Did you do it through Cecilia by just booking your photo package or did you contact him? We are just doing the "complimentary" package and I am adding on all the other stuff we need, so I am really hesitant to book a reception in one of the restaurants for over $500 when we are all supposed to eat for free at the restaurant anyway. Lol, is anyone else thinking this? Can I not just make a reservation for 20 people? I don't really care if it is private.

Hi Amberh1884! I know your message wasn't directed to me, but I booked Juan for my May 12th wedding, and I just contacted him directly. He ended up just sending me the same photography packet that is on SMB website, but he did respond to my questions. We are planning on doing the exact same thing as you. We also got the complimentary package, and are adding some stuff to it. We don't want to pay extra to eat at a restaurant either. I emailed Cecilia about our options and she mentioned that they can reserve any restaurant for us as long as we don't have more than 20 people. And she mentioned that we can reserve an area in the World Cafe if it is open the same night as our wedding. (I guess not all of the restaurants are open every night.) We really don't care about a private dinner either, we just want to be able to all sit by each other.

I hope that helped! I'm glad to hear that someone else is doing the same as us :)

Amberh - I have been in touch w/ Juan but I have made changes to the package so he basically just said to work out the pricing with Cecilia. But I have been in touch with him asking questions and stuff. We are having a big reception but I know that if you are having a smaller party.. just making reservations in a restaurant is a GREAT idea!!! I feel so silly paying EXTRA for all this food and drinks when we are at an all inclusive place like this!!

Lola - what time are you having your ceremony and stuff? We are at 430. Wondering what time people are doing it that time of year - want to make sure we have enough time for pictures in daylight and such..

ckrn - I have just heard that the hotel DJ are fun and do a great job - I really haven't heard an exact review on Ismael. Anyone use the resort DJ??

brideRN...I was looking for reviews today for Ismael and came up with nothing...I was wondering if we could use another DJ?

Ok so i'm soo excited cause we just decided to go down for a site visit!!!woot.gifWe are going February 2-5.  We are not staying at the resort, but I just emailed Cecilia with so many questions about meeting her and staying at the hotel for a day? I'm interested in doing a menu testing..having a hard time picking a main course..also none of the desserts look all that good. I guess its not that big of deal since we will have cake too.. I asked her if we could meet with Juan and Ismael.  I wanted to look at flowers. I've been in contact with two florist in Playa Del Carmen. Secrets prices seem high for flowers/centerpieces.  I was also thinking about using the hair and makeup that comes with the ultimate package and using it as a trail instead...Then i'll know for sure if I should  book the Adrian or not?

If anyone would like me to ask her any questions or if there's anything you want me to check out just let me know.  I'll be happy to ask!  I'm also going to take lots of pictures. I'm going to try and ask again about having the Sky laters for the reception  ( I think they are so beautiful)  Let me know how I can help!

@BrideRN:  We are scheduled for a 4 pm wedding on the beach. Apparently this will give us plenty of light for photos as well.

@CKRN: I am so jealous you are able to have an advanced site visit. I have also booked the Ultimate package and heavily upgraded using the resort's options. however, after this website, I am second guessing every detail, and may hire some outside vendors. I am very interested to hear your input and advice. Please keep us fully posted! And, have a great trip!

I have decided to change my colors again . . .HA!!! I was leaning towards coral, magenta, and sand. However, I think I am LOVING tiffany blue (teal), purples, and fusica, with sand (or gray). What do ya'll think? The wedding is the last weekend of October, but i guess a beach wedding really does not have have to observe true 'fall' colors : )!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
