Annie-I was clearly wrong, as Cecilia has confirmed that all guests not staying at resort need to purchase a day pass and 80% of guests do NOT have to be guests of the resort. I read this information somewhere, and do not remember where. That is why I said in the other post to contact Cecilia to find out for sure. The internet is (obviously!) full of all sorts of info that is incorrect, which is probably where I got that information. Not sure what you are thinking, but to be clear I was not giving out false information on purpose. I thought it was correct information when I posted it.

I apologize if I gave anyone a heart attack or freaked them out! I was seriously ill-informed and have been planning my wedding this entire time thinking that 80% HAD to be guests at the resort!!! We have actually been trying to convince my fiances brother to stay at the resort when he has been wanting to rent a villa for him and some of his wife's family. I am so relieved because now we don't have to worry!

So, what kind of extras are all of you adding to your wedding?

I am going to purchase my own chair bows and centerpieces and ship them down there. I may send the stuff for my OOT bags as well.

Also, have any of you looked through the reviews of the hotel on this site? There are lots of photos of ceremony and reception set ups.

beachbride2013, no problemo! =)  There is so much information when it comes to planning it is easy to get overwhelmed.  At least we are that's for sure!

It just makes it more difficult to coordinate on the wedding day when people are coming from outside of the resort.  Such as getting them thru the front desk and into the resort and dealing with the day passes.  I don't even know how that works.  Does anyone have experience with day passes?  Do they give out wristbands to outside guests?

I agree.  There are lots of photos of ceremony and reception set ups on the site.

I also found this site with some honest views of the resort - they are not "commercialized" photos if you know what I mean.  Like fast food ads showing pristine, plump burgers and tacos and in real life they look nothing like the sort. Lol.

Hi all you fellow Secrets Maroma Brides.

I'm so grateful for everyone's input. The uncertainty of planning a destination wedding can be a bit scary.

I'm just now starting to think about my wedding (End of August 2012) and have booked everything already. From what I've heard everyone seems to be working with Cecilia... The one who I have been in contact with however has been Valeria... Is anyone else working with her?

Not having everyone staying at the resort just makes coordinating on the wedding day more of a hassle.  Making sure everyone gets thru the front desk on time and gets their day passes.  I don't even know how it is done.  Do day pass folks get a wristband?  Does anyone who has had a wedding at SMB already have any experience with day passes?

I agree.  Search BDW for SMB weddings and you will find past weddings with lots of photos of ceremony and reception set ups.

I found this site with honest views of SMB grounds and ceremony locations.  The photos are not commercialized if you know what I mean.  Like fast food ads of burgers and tacos that in real life look nothing like the sort. Lol.

I've been working with Valeria too.  Our wedding is Sept 29, 2012. I've just started working with her, but everything has been good so far!

Hi Bpokatie, thanks for your reply.  Our wedding is in July of 2012 and I think we have 16 people booked.  So... we may end up with a bigger group which is great and makes me nervous all at the same time.  I think we will do an iPod sound system no matter how big the group we can entertain ourselves I am sure.  The cost for DJ seems large comparatively speaking.  I am still not sure weather I want reception on the beach or pool side.  Cannot make up my mind.  I def want Mariachi band at some point and maybe guitar for the ceremony still debating. The planning is pretty minimal right now although I am sure there are a million things I SHOULD be doing like place cards or something.  I am pretty sure I want to do a welcome bag although I am sure they will be a pain to ship and deliver to rooms, but I think it's a nice touch and makes everyone feel like your thinking of them.

Is Valeria your planner?  How have things been going in your planning?

Nicole

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
