Sorry...I dont get on here much anymore! Ok...I made a cd of my music and rented the sound system. They did a GREAT job playing and fading each song. I was SO worried about that part, but they were great! I asked for an english speaking minister and he actually did quite well. I have a TON of pics....so anyone wanting to see them, find me on facebook and just let me know who you are so I accept :)

I am planning my wedding in SMB in May 2011.

It will just be the 2 of us and we will have a AHR after.

We live in Ireland and have just booked 2 weeks in the resort and have requested 19 May as our wedding date.  We are in the very early stages of organising and have just received a form from SMB which is already confusing us!!

Quite surprised at the info they ask for - salaries / qualifications / what we plan to do with our assets after we are married / parents occupations.... did you all have to give this info?....

Really appreciate your replies!!

Welcome and congrats SMB2B! We didn't have to give quite as detailed information as you've been asked for. We DID have to give our parent's occupations, salaries/occupations, etc when we were married but I think that is because we had a legal ceremony, not just a symbolic ceremony. Which are you having? We had to have witnesses which my family was able to be and I think that was the only reason they asked for their occupations. I wonder if they ask for that info from you because you live in Ireland? Maybe there are different "requirements" between Ireland and Mexico than the US and Mexico ?

You could ask Cecilia why they need that info and maybe she can shed some light on why you need to give such detailed info.

Hi Ladies!!

I just got back from my wedding at SMB last week.  I haven't had the time to write a full review but we had a blast and Cecilia did an amazing job for our wedding.  I will try my best to write a detailed review in a next week or so, but in the meantime, feel free to ask me any questions!

Hi jaccat15, to answer to your questions, we had the basic free package, so we didn't do a private reception.  We did it at Oceana Restaurant.  There is an area in the restaurant that is in the middle of the restaurant, but it's two steps up from the rest of the area so has a little bit of separation from other people, so we strongly requested that we have that area all to ourselves.  We wanted to have one big table, not two separate tables because that would be a little awkward especially we only have 10 wedding party.  We had to fight for that a bit since we got a lot of push back from Cecilia, Lety, and Daniel (their wedding team).  But in the end, they made it happen.  We just ordered off of their menu, we didn't have a set menu.   Since we only had 10 of us, and this is an all-inclusive resort. so I didn't want to pay extra for the food.

I read somewhere that you are doing a bonfire the night before? That would be super nice.  I should have planned that.  The beach at night is so beautiful and calm and with the fire and great music, that would have been a great event.

I will post some pictures soon!

thanks! i'm glad to hear Cecilia now has a team :) Nancy was emailing me while Cecilia was on vacation and I'm sure Cecilia needed a break, lol!

yes - we're doing a bonfire the night before at 9:00 and doing dinner with the bridal party only before hand. Cecilia said she could set tables up for us at the poolside buffet that night since and not charge extra so we're going to do that. We have 65 people coming down so it should be a fun party.

Was the resort full? how was the weather?

Resort was not full at all.  The weather was kind of bad up until the day after our wedding day...  There was a tropical storm near so it was rainy and it stops but overcast and then it starts again.  It did rain on our wedding day, so we had to move from Gazebo to the entrance to the theater.   They have two options for the rain, one upstairs which is completely inside and the other is the entrance to the theater.  I still wanted the tropical outside feel for our wedding ceremony so we chose the entrance to the theater. It worked out well in the end.  It stopped raining right before our ceremony, so we were able to take pics outside, by the beach, and in the hacienda.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
