hey! when do you get in for your wedding - mine is 10/30 and will be at the resort until Tuesday the 2nd and then we're going to Zoetry for the rest of the week :)

I'm shipping my welcome bags, place cards, yammaka's and anything else i can think of in a couple weeks to give it enough time to get there just in case.

I hope nothing happens to it..............should be ok but you never know - we shall see

Question: are any of you shipping your welcome bags? Thought we would be able to check them as luggage, but we need to ship 40 bags.

Getting married on November 6, 35 rooms booked :)

Hi ya - we arrive on November 3. Sad! I sent the resort a question on shipping. See below :)

Shipping: I would like to ship some materials to the hotel. Will you send me instructions? Should I use UPS or FedEx? I recommend you to use FedEx , you can send the materials to Cecilia Reyes†attention . the hotel address is :

Secrets Maroma Beach Riviera Cancun

Carretera Federal 307. Chetumal-Cancún Km. 306.5

What time is your wedding? We're booked for 3p, but I'm worried it will be too hot.

thanks!!! aww, you will miss my wedding and I will miss yours :(

Our wedding is at 6:00pm - we have to get married after the sunset's bc we are Jewish and having it on a Saturday night. We are telling everyone though to be there for 5:45pm and will start the processional at 6:10. Sunset is exactly 6:14pm so that gives us a nice setting too as we walk down the aisle

I have the Secrets Ultimate Wedding Package, and our current reception time is 6:30 - 9:30 pm, but we think it ends too early. :P

Thanks!!!

Hey there Jenny:

When we got married in '09 they didn't "extend" the reception but you can take your whole group and go to the "disco" club to continue dancing and drinking if that's what you have in mind.

I asked Cecilia about extending our reception time, and she gave me the following quote:

"...the package include 3 hrs service, in this case from  6:00  to 9 :00 pm, in case you want to add additional time the cost is $10 usd +11% tax +15% service per person per hr. We can do outside events until 11:00 pm."

We were also using the sound system (for Ipod), which she said would be an additional $180/hr +tax.

We decided not to increase the time of our reception, and I'm actually really glad we didn't.  My groom and I were so exhausted by 900pm, that we went to the lobby for one more drink with all of our guests, and then retired to our room.  You always have the option of using the other bars or the disco to extend your party with your guests, or whoever wants to stay out.  My groom and I went to bed, as did the parents, but some of our guests stayed out at the disco all night long.

The final decision was just that the price it would cost us for an additional hour wasn't worth it to me.  Just didn't make sense when the other bars were available for free.

Hi everyone,

I am planning my wedding in SMB in May 2011.

It will just be the 2 of us and we will have a AHR after.

We live in Ireland and have just booked 2 weeks in the resort and have requested 19 May as our wedding date.  We are in the very early stages of organising and have just received a form from SMB which is already confusing us!!

Quite surprised at the info they ask for - salaries / qualifications / what we plan to do with our assets after we are married / parents occupations.... did you all have to give this info?....

Really appreciate your replies!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
