I'm just a month behind you in September 2011!

does anyone have any info concerning hair and make-up appointments for the bridal party? how does the spa handle this? any experience?

i have 5 bridesmaids plus my mom, the grooms mom and grandmother - any thoughts are appreciated!

Definitely email with Cecilia about making the spa appointments in advance.  We discussed what times would be best that day and I told her how many I needed for hair and make up...then she made the appts with the spa.  Of course I confirmed the appts again when I arrived.

When I got married at SMB in April '09 I used the hair and makeup in the wedding package as a trial run. I'm glad I did because then I was able to tell the girl the adjustments I wanted made on the actual day. Due to the number of people with you that are going to the spa I'd definitely book in advance with Cecilia. The spa is really nice though it can be busy! In the 9 days we spent in Mexico there were weddings on 8 days!

The lady that did my hair and make-up seemed pretty experienced and didn't even make any wacko faces when my photographer was taking pictures!  My three visits to the spa were all problem free!

I was wondering about the hair and make up too! I did trial run here and took pictures and I am planning on doing my own hair and makeup.  But I am leaning towards getting it done at SMB spa if they are good and from Kitts55 and Newyork6156's comments, they did meet the expectation, right?  It would be two less things to worry about!!   Can't believe my wedding is only a month away!!

how many hair and make-up people are there on hand for weddings???

I'm not entirely sure how many hair and make-up people are on hand for weddings. It was only me using the spa so I assume they wouldn't pay the other hair and make-up people to just stand around. :) Maybe someone who had multiple people using the hair and make-up people can answer your question?

ReeRee- you got it right! The hair and make-up people did meet my expectations. I wanted my hair curled/made wavy by using a flat iron (certain barrel size) so I brought my Chi to Mexico with me. She didn't know what I was talking about but then I showed her and she got it exactly. When we did the trial run I hated the make-up on my decollete and the fronts of my shoulders so I told her not to do that for my wedding. She listened. I wanted slightly lighter eye make-up for my wedding and she also did that. I wanted a smaller pouf for my wedding and she also did that. Unfortunately I can't remember her name. If you get someone who does not understand English very well don't be afraid to ask for a "translator" because you want to avoid any language mis-understandings on your wedding day!

Thank you Kits55!! That is a very helpful info!  Did you wear your hair down then? I am planning on doing beachy wavey hair and have flower on the side.  I bet it is windy on the beach, but I think it is romantic to have long hair flowing with the wind:)

We sent a request yesterday to book 11/04/2011!!!  Which is so crazy to me, it seems like a lifetime away. But we are both soooooo excited and can't wait. I've been stressing the past few weeks about choosing a resort and am so excited that we finally chose SMB. I love the pictures online and I can't believe I have read every frickin 54 pages of this post :P    For now I am done with the planning and I don't want to look at reception/ceremony locations or anything else until at least December. I'm really looking forward to this being a stress free and easy process since most of the details will be out of my hands.  So for now I'm just another "lurker".

Welcome Adfaircloth06! I feel you on a stree free wedding planning which is exactly why I chose the destination wedding at SMB too!! I also read all the pages on this thread before I made my decision, so I feel your pain therewink.gif My wedding is a month away but I am going to make final decision on where to have ceremony during the final meeting with Cecilia.  I am planning on the beach ceremony, but they have two locations, right in front of the beach and also where the massage palapa is, and I wouldn't know which one would be right for us unless I look at it physically!!  Anyway, happy planning!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
