Hey girls. Hope your wedding planning is going well. My fiance and I decided we are going to be honeymooning at Secrets Maroma! Here's my question, which room category would you girls recommend?

Secrets Maroma:

junior suite partial oceanview

- junior suite oceanview

junior suite swim out

preferred club junior suite oceanview

- preferred club junior suite oceanfront

I heard the swim out pool is not worth it, but i'd like to hear your opinions and hopefully soon because I need to book!!

Thanks so much

I am having the same problem as I'm getting married there in April 2011. I'm going through a travel agent and he thought that I could tell my guests that it could be between $300-$350 per person/night with flight so that's what I'm telling my guests to budget for; however, I'm hoping it will be less! Please let me know if you hear anything else regarding this.
Thanks!

Hi ladies!

SMB is amazing for either your wedding or honeymoon, it won't disappoint.

Regarding room rates - it really depends on the time of year you are having your wedding and also the group rate your TA can negotiate with Secrets for you. To give yourself an idea, you should check expedia to see what the discounted rate is that they have with the hotel and subtract about $20. This I have found is a good gauge. Remember, the rates you will get from your TA will be PER PERSON PER NIGHT - Expedia and other travel sites are based on 2 people.

As for rooms - We got upgraded to one of these a few weeks ago when I was there to plan our wedding. It was really nice having a pool to use but honestly, I would have never booked it bc we never used it and bc it is basically a breeding ground for mosquitos and is on the ground floor. We are booking an Ocean View for our wedding and hope to maybe get upgraded to a honeymoon suite :) If you think you are going to use the swim out and want the option to stay in the room one day and hang by that pool, then I would do it - but depending on where your room is, the sun isn't always on your patio depending on the time of day. Just some things to keep in mind!

Good Luck!

thanks for he info girls! my TA said that she thinks the prices for the last week of Jan will be pricey. I'm not reallt sure what that means but if it is $300-$350 a night that will be ok. I have decided to stop stressing out about comparing every resort to make it affordable for my guests! If they can come great but if not I can't let that be the deciding factor on where to have my wedding! ahh this is so stressfull!

Jan is peak so it could be more than $350 per couple per night. I wouldn't worry too much about the price for your guests, your closest fam and friends will come and everyone else will figure it out :) You just have to be 100% happy about your location.

$350 would be per double occupancy in a room - your TA will give you a rate per person based on double occupancy (example: $175per person, so $350 total per night) They should also give you a single person room rate as well.

I'm not sure how it works if you have a few friends who are single and want to share a room - I'm pretty sure it's 2 per room only but check with your TA.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
