When to give out the OOT bags?

Recommended Posts

Just wondering when you`re giving out your bags?

We are heading to Panama for our wedding in January. Most of our guests are flying out of Toronto with us. Our flight leaves at around 6 am on a Monday morning, which means we have to be at the airport between 3 and 4 am. We booked a hotel in Toronto for Sunday night, where a lot of people will be congregating before we head to the airport.

I really don`t want to have to bring the OOT bags all the way to our resort with us... given the weight restrictions for carrying stuff with us on the plane. So, we were thinking of giving the bags out at the hotel on the night before departure. Then, people can just pack the stuff they want to bring with them into their luggage... and leave the other stuff behind in their cars.

I am so far behind on getting stuff for the bags.... but I think our bags will include a welcome letter, itiniary, list of tours, sunscreen, luggage tags, bug spray, cards, snacks... and a few other items that we haven`t decided on yet.

Only this is... how should I handle getting the bags to those who are flying from other cities, or are coming later in the week on another flight?

Any suggestions would be welcome! Thanks!!

I'm no help. I'm packing it all with me and giving them out in Mexico. We do have a relatively small group though~ 26 people. At the hotel the night before sounds good. The only thing I'd be concerned about is that if guests have already jam packed their suitcases they may end up leaving the bag behind just due to lack of a place to pack the extra stuff.

Just like us, we are hoping for 25 or less people so its all going down with us. My family will help us get it down there. We will either have the hotel place them in the rooms or we will go door to door and hand them out. Carla wink.gif

I am planning on having a welcome dinner when we get to the resort and giving them out then. Most of our guests are coming on the same day. The rest I will give out when the guests arrive. I am afraid if I give them out before hand, people won't bring it with them. My family is helping me to get everyone to the resort.

Depending on how many guests you have coming on a different day, you could give out most of your bags the night before adn then take the rest with you.

Thanks for the suggestions! I guess another option is to ship them directly to the resort a few weeks ahead of time, and hand them out when I get there. Do you think the resort will hold them there for me?? Has anyone else done something like that?

I talked to Air transat, and they won't allow us any additional weight or luggage, even though we're getting married south. sad.gif

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
