Bridesmaid dropped out, how do I ask someone else?

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone,

One of my bridesmaids needs to drop out...their financial situation has changed and she can no longer afford to come nor can we afford to pay for her sad.gif I am heartbroken but totally understand why she can no longer come. With that being said, another really good friend of mine who is already coming would be "next in line" to be a bridesmaid. I know she will say yes, but the whole process of asking her is scary to me. The fact that she knows full well that I've already chosen bridesmaids, the last thing I want is for her to feel like she's "filling in" or the "last resort", you know? How do you think I should ask her, or do you have any real life experiences or tips for me? I don't want anyone's feelings hurt.

hm that's tricky, I wuold just be honest and explain the situation. Tell her that you would have chosen her before but that you just couldn't have that many bms. but that you're so ecstatic to be able to have her in your wedding party now cheesy.gif

i was asked to be a bridesmaid when another bridesmaid dropped out cuz she was dealing with family issues.

the bride explained the situation of why the other bridesmaid dropped out, then said she felt like we were getting to be closer friends and she'd be honoured if i'd be one of her bridesmaids.

she was really nervous asking me too so i think she was scared to offend me too. but i wasn't at all. i was more excited that i got asked to be a bridesmaid and felt special that she picked me to be part of her wedding.

just be honest. i'm sure she'll be so thrilled she gets to play a role in the wedding she wouldn't even think about that she didn't make the first cut. i didn't think about it that way at all, i was just happy that i got asked

I think you will be alright asking her. I have a question for you all as well. One of my bridesmaids is in the Air Force so she may be deployed at that time. She doesn't know yet. I was thinking about asking a friend now to be a standby, what do you think about that?

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
