Quick questions:
Did you bring the freeze dried petals down with you? If so, any trouble at customs?
Yes, I used freeze dried petals (those are the only ones allowed). I didn't have any problems with customs, but my bags were not opened... so I was not questioned about them. I would suggest they are packed in a way that it is not the first thing they see if they happen to check your bag.

My husband and I had 2 suitcases worth of "stuff", 2 suitcases with our clothes, 1 carry-on suitcase, and one garment bag. There was a lot of wrapping that took up a considerable amount of space. I also had other things (like maracas and personalized mugs) that were really bulky. Of all my trips down to Mexico (5+ times), my bags have never been inspected. I guess I have been lucky... I don't think you'll have a problem with customs unless you are bringing in something that they regulate (i.e. alcohol). The issue will be with the airlines (excess baggage weight or too many checked in pieces of luggage).

Thanks for the information! My big concern is getting it all down there. Fortunately for us, We have one Mexican airlines that is non-stop down there. If need be, I have offered to pay for extra bags for several people if we need help.

Also, we are going down the Sunday before our Saturday wedding. Most of the guest are coming down on Thursday. Currently, there is only one flight that Thursday and I think my wedding guests and family take up most of it. I saw on another post about a big hit that I am going to do. They handed out strips of material to all their guest to tie on ALL their bags. This way the wedding guest and family can recognize who on the plane is flying with them to our wedding party. I was thinking of getting some faux suede in Orange and Stitching "Cancun" on them. I have a sewing machine that does this and have several months to work on it. People can also see it if they are walking through the lobby.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
