To perforate or not to perforate, (boarding pass invites) that is the question

Recommended Posts

I am almost done the design phase o f our boarding pass invitations (not STD) smile41.gif. So I am beginning the planning phase, the paper has been ordered, scissors purchased, and I bought a perforating tool. It is one of those hand rotary wheels that is supposed to trace patterns on fabric, so I thought it might work on 110lb cardstock. WRONG! Good thing I only paid $1.50 for it at Fabricland! foshizzle.bmp

Our invites almost look like most (with the bar code) except I would have to fix up the cutting template because as of now it is a bit different.

So my question is, should I bother to perforate the invites?? We are not having a detachable RSVP postcard, since we figure that most will not return them.

Do most of your guests rip them or not? Since there is no RSVP, I am having a hard time justifying the extra expense this perforator-cutting tool would cost.monkey.gif

Side note; anyone know why a bar code would be printing funny (it comes out looking staggered)frown.gif

Your opinions & help are welcome and appreciated!

I didn't perforate. We didn't do an RSVP so I didn't see the need to do the extra work. Most people that I know just stuck them on the fridge as a whole.

I did have some trouble with the barcode but don't remember how I fixed it. It might have something to do with the font if you aren't using one that is standard on your computer.

I bought a blade for my rotary cutter that perforated. Maybe it was too sharp, but it just but through the paper and it tore off with just a gentle touch. After that happening to one, I decided to not perforate them. I didn't have an RSVP either, but it was an STD. The blade cost like $5-7ish.

The best tool for perforating is the fiskar rotary trimmer. I use mine for scrapbooking and used it for the first print/rough draft of my STD'd, worked great! Not only did it make them easier to cut out but made the perforating so easy. Besides the trimmer, all you need to buy for a couple dollars is the perforating blade that just slips right in.

FiskarsCrafts.com A new way to look at crafting online!

Hope that helps, Carla wink.gif

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
