How much $ for catering?

Recommended Posts

I was just wondering how much some of you were paying for catering and for how many people. I am trying to find a cater in Puerto Vallarta for 75 people for a great deal, but I am not sure how much I should expect to spend.

I'm not sure what prices over in PV are, but we are in Akumal and are averaging about $33 per person. We are having 6 appetizers on each table, then everyone has a choice of a house salad, caesar salad, or soup and then they get to choose between 4 different meals for their dinner. This doesn't includ our beverages though.

Not sure if you are looking for good food, low cost, or if you don't care much about the food but want low cost. I found during my tastings in PV. You either pay around $5-$8 more for a lot better food. I tried 3 places.

1. Traditional Mexican Food (my belly didn't like it later) $25pp - this was for sit down 4 course meal, the food was okay felt like I could have bought the same thing at Chili's in the states. I know a lot of brides that have used this company and none of them said the food was what the guest remembered, some even said for $25 they expected so much more. I agree...

2. Wider menu, great apps, presentation was amazing $33pp - the menu was something that would satisfy all my guests, but really again I felt it was food I could buy at any place in the states and for $33 a person it was nothing special you paid for the presentation. This is a good option.

3. I am going with Plush Catering Catering Puerto Vallarta | Weddings and Events in Puerto Vallarta, you can contact stewart@bocabento.com for pricing. We at his restaurant twice Boca Bento, then did a tasting. It was amazing. Wide menu very latin-asia-american mix. Presentation was outstanding, food was outstanding, they have a shrimp shooter you must try. Cake comes included in your quote. The price was great and he has been wonderful to work with. If you reach out to him, please tell him Kathy & Rob say Hi.

I would share my quote but it includes 4 hours of open bar, so that might not be what you are looking for, but the price with Plush is good and realistic, especially with the food you get.

I feel in PV everyone is very open to being flexible with the menu and pricing. YOu really should just start reaching out to them and let them know your budget and see what they build around it.

OMG!!! I really mean this when I say you haven't gone wrong. Boca Bento's food is amazing. I will review my menu and get back to you. I ate there twice while there and on top of that did a tasting. It truly is Asian Latin food. I wanted something that all my guests would love.

Where are you getting married? Where is your receiption?

I wish you the best.

I am getting married in the Cathedral downtown....Our Lady of Guadalupe. My reception is going to be at one of two Villas we rented for the week. One is Casa Querubines and the other is Casa Quetzal. Casa Querubines - Puerto Vallarta 5 bedroom luxury vacation villa in Mexico

Casa del Quetzal - Puerto Vallarta 5 bedroom luxury vacation villa in Mexico. My Wedding planners were going to visit both Villas and figure out which would be best for the reception this week.

I am going to talk to Stewart with Plush this week as well to figure out what options to choose from. Very excited!!!

Lupe (is that your first name?)

You will love Casa Quetzal. My friends stayed there last year. The courtyard would make for a beautiful ceremony and reception site. It is really grand.... OMG I am so excited for you.

Please tell Stewart that I send my best to him and Monika, I would appreciate it. I need to actually call him also.

You will love Boca Bento's food. The shrimp shooters is amazing. Stewart is a character and fun to work with. He does a really good job, I have been told.

I can't wait to hear about your trip. Please take lots of pictures. I miss PV so bad. I did notice airfare for next year is also going down, yeah!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
