sooo... after being almost done with the planning and organizing, we have had a few mind changes, and annoying "comments" from friends and family, we have decided to get married....just the two of us. Im just wondering if anyone else has done this or is considering getting married just them...no guests. I am no wondering if anyone knows resorts that have cheep or free packages to accomodate this type of wedding? I know Dreams has a free package if you upgrade to a honeymoon suite.... anyone?

I know that the Catalonia Riviera Maya has a really affordable symbolic ceremony (as in, less than $500) that you could do. The resort is not rated at 5 stars, but Morgan (search for her name- she has TONS of phenomenal posts on here!) had her wedding there and she really seemed to have loved the resort. You could always get married there then move to a 'fancier' resort (depends on what you are looking for) for your honeymoon, if you want! Good luck!

Excellence Riviera Cancun has a free package if you book an Excellence Club room for 7 nights... Other wise it is like $850 if you book a cheaper room.

I know the Moon Palace has a free wedding package, because that's what FH and I are doing. I don't believe there are any minimum requirements for guests or anything like that!

And, I think it's great you two feel confident enough to go it alone. FH and I have thought about doing that a few times...me probably more than him (cause my family has been giving more problems!)...LOL. I think it's great you're making your wedding about just the two of you!

I am totally with you sister! My Fiance and I are going to do a legal ceremony here at home for our Parents and then we are going to either Dreams or Excellence PC and having a symbolic ceremony and we get to still have the beach wedding I have always dreamed of and our parents of course want to throw us a beach themed casual reception. I feel like its the least stressful thing that works for all of us. My brother got married in July and he lives in out of state so we all had to travel there and stay in the hotel they were married in needless to say it cost us all an easy $1000 no other family members besides our parents came it was a big disappointment for him. To be honest I would rather not have to worry about all of the arrangements or financial burden for guests to travel out of the country with us :)

Sandinmytoes and I are doing almost the same thing! We are having the legal ceremony here the day before we leave for our parents, and then its just the 2 of us in Cancun cheesy.gif We are still paying the full price for the wedding because our resort has a symbolic ceremony package for 2-10 people.

This is what works for us, and if it is what you want, go for it! I think its super romantic to share the day with only each other :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
