I think my dog has diabetes *updated*

So our 8 year old dog has been drinking and peeing like crazy, has an appetite of a horse and has been losing weight like crazy. I googled his symptoms and it all points to canine diabetes.

The soonest we could get him to the vet was tomorrow at 10:30, we will know more then. Has anyone experienced this or does your dog have diabetes? We are trying to prepare ourselves if it is, but still hoping that maybe it's not! Any advice or suggestions would be great.

AW i'm so sorry sad.gif it might not be diabetes though. Our dog Celtic had the same symptoms and it was a hyperthyroid...which we were able to treat with meds. Keep us posted on what the vet says! I'll be thinking of you guys!

I don't remember there being anything else actually. Well he had colitis when he was a puppy, but I'm not sure that was related. And it did start all of a sudden, once he hit about the age of 2.

MsShelley, Im sorry about your dog. I had yorkie poodle for 13 years and he had diabetes for about three years. We had to give him a shot of insulin twice a day and we managed it very well. He did have some of those symptoms. I hope its not, but if it is dont worry about it, it is easily manageable. A good look on it is when we gave my dog his shot twice a day he loved it because we gave him the juicy food so he thought it was a treat. Keep us up dated!!

yeah, I talked to a lady at work that her cat has diabetes and apparently the vet told her not to feed him dry food. He will be loving life. I just want him to feel better, you can definitely tell he isn't well.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
