Small guest list, should we do it?

Recommended Posts

We will have about 10 people at our wedding (Mom, Dad, 4 Brothers, Sister, Uncle, Best Friend (Girl), and Maid of Honor) My question is, should I do a garter and bouquet toss? There will only be 6 guys tops and 4 girls tops... is it even worth it?

I'm not doing it, we have a small group as well, and I've also never been one that was excited to participate in this event either, so I don't even know if I'd do it with a large wedding. But its your day and you really can do whatever you want, if its something you've had your heart set on doing, I say go for it, don't let the size of the group discourage you, but if you don't care, I say its not necessary.

I agree. I always didn't like that aspect of weddings. Last year at my cousin's wedding my sister (25) caught the boquet and a 10 year old boy caught the garter. Needless to say, both were not too keen dancing with eachother. I thought it was pretty funny though!

I'd say, scratch it too.

I honestly don't like the idea even for bigger weddings - sorry if anyone here is doing it, but I just think its a little cheesy. Watching 10 grown adult women fighting over a bouquet and pretty much ripping it to shreds just to be "the next one to marry" is embarrassing to watch! I've been to weddings where they give the bouquet to the couple that has been married the longest and consider it good luck to do so. No one breaks a nail, and they all still have their dignity!!

The funniest toss I've ever seen was when one of my best friends got married about 10 years ago. It was a small wedding and there were 5 of us women who were best friends of hers and all were strong-minded, "don't need a man" type women.... So when she went to throw it toward us, we all took one collective step back and watched it hit the ground. Not a one of us wanted to touch that thing....

I personally have hated the ritual simply because to me, it promotes that subliminal archiac idea that women need to get married and need the "luck" of a bouquet toss tom make it happen--- like marriage is the main thing we're supposed to work toward in life....

Again, that's just me....

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
