Michelle -- as well, some resorts require as much as 72 hours (sometimes more!) to take your dress and steam it, and some brides just don't have that much time after arriving! (some may be getting married the next day or day after and may not want to risk it...)

Done! Well, I just emailed the WC at Shangri-La (my resort) to ask if they have a steamer on site.

I am arriving on Sunday night and the wedding is on Friday, so I could conceivably bring it into town if necessary during the week.

Am I nuts to think I might just be able to hang it in the bathroom and turn the shower on?blush2.gif

Anyone had experience with Canadian flights? We are flying skyservice and I have another bride sharing the wedding day/plane with us. I am hoping we will both be able to hang ours in the closet. Mine is fairly heavy and not sure i could lift it that high..*lol*.

Here's hoping for both us girls.

You know what else just occurred to me? How do we get it through security? I don't think it will fit through the x-ray machine!

And it's not just about wrinkles for me. This is the most expensive item of clothing I've ever owned. The thought of folding it up and having people shove their bags on top of it is a nightmare.

There is a service called DryKlean that comes to the Hilton to steam the dress...my WC told me about it. They may come to yours, too.

On the flight now...we got first class, so no prob hanging in closet. Two other brides on the flight as well. All dresses are hanging! The only issue was getting it through the x-ray machine...it ended up in a ball at the bottom of the garment bag. Not sure how that happened in a matter of 2 minutes, but it did!

All is well! I'm off!

Oh crap... security! LOL! That will be funny. My dress is just a little on the poufy side... FI will FREAK if they want to open up the bag. He'll stand there with his eyes tight shut. THat will be hilarious. LOL! smile116.gif

Agreed on the expensiveness and just it makes me sad to think of it getting crushed.

Oh and my WC got back to me. Apparently the front desk can loan me an IRON. She must not have understood? Unless she means steaming machine. Ugh. I am sure there'll be a place in town (PLaya del Carmen) worst comes to worst. Ti then I'll hope for the best from the good folks on American Airlines.

I totally agree. I am so freaked out by the thought of flying with my dress. It's the most gorgeous, expensive thing I've owned, and I will go nuts if anything happens to it. It's $360 each person to upgrade to first class, and with every other cost associated with the wedding, I don't know if we are going to make that happen. Ugghhh....

Awesome!! Thank you for this! I am flying Transat too and my TA made it sound like the closet wouldn't be an option.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
