Ror Review--10/31/08

Recommended Posts

In response to the first question---yes, those will be our thank you's.

Ellipse---We did not rent the disco. You can rent it from 9-11, but with only 23 guests, we didn't feel that ten people or whatever dancing on the floor at a time would be much fun. Regardless of whether someone has booked it or not from 9-11, it doesn't open to the public until 11, so we were just waiting and waiting to get the show on the road.

As for Dunn's---we emailed Michael four months prior and asked. He said he had done TTD at the RIU, but never at Dunn's. He was enthusiastic and said it would be a great challenge. However, after the actual shoot he said that he had never done one there before because he thought it would be too crowded. Since we didn't see anyone until 11 a.m., he said that our experience changed his mind and that maybe he'd start to advertise a bit. He was very happy with the pics and thanked us for the idea/opportunity.

We wanted to arrive at 8:30 a.m. when it opened to avoid the crowds, but since we didn't have any beach photos from our wedding day due to the weather, we did some beach photos first. Since Michael was already there shooting, he offered to give us a ride to Dunn's which was above and beyond---a taxi would have been $20 (originally the person in the lobby said $30, so we left. They called our room later and said they'd take us for $20). We paid Michael's entry fee which was only maybe $7 since he has a residents card (it's normally $15).

We felt very bad, as Michael got both of his cameras wet and they shut off. Luckily, we were just about done anyway. He said that the insurance for his camera is hundreds of dollars and he had never thought it necessary to buy it, but now he knows why he should. Luckily, he wiped them off and they were working by the time we left.

Congratulations and thanks for the review! I'm getting married December 2009 and will hope for the best with regards to the weather.

I love your flowers. Did you pay extra? Also, did you pay extra for the tulle around the gazebo? I also want to use the aqua blue and orange combination.

Thanks again for your review and I'm glad you are enjoying the married life.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
